Vehicle Detail

Here is my project car. It is my daily driver car. I have owned the car for a little over three years. In that time I put about 40,000 miles on it. I drive the car often to New Hampshire on a 700 mile round trip. It has never let me down. It has 258656 miles on it. Mileage will change as I keep driving it. When I purchased it, it was in need of some TLC. I teach auto repairs at a local school and have used the car many times for demo’s. It has been checked over many times. Below is a list of things that have been done in the past three years. The vast majority was done in the first six months I owned it. For the past two years nothing was needed. I always changed engine oil at 3,000 and fuel filters at 12,000. Tires have about 3000 on them. I also replaced both front seats. I junked an older GMC truck and found that the front seats fit into the Benz. I still have the old Benz seats and there were no modifications to the car to fit the seats in. I only made brackets that bolted to the seat that allowed the GMC seats to bolt to the Benz tracks. The old seats sag but were still in fair condition. They come with the car. The current set up means the car has no seatbelts. They can be transferred from the old seats but I never got around to doing it. The car starts and runs well. The transmission shifts very firm from 1-2 & 2-3 with no flares. There is a little oil leak from the turbo drain but I never need to add oil over the 3000 oil change. The A/C and heat work but where the air comes out of is any bodies guess. If you buy this car you must know there are issues with the HVAC air distribution. Have fun with it. I always just set the doors for defroster in the winter and vents in the summer by hand. The paint is a random two tone brown. Over the years I would pick a part of the car to sand and paint. As I went along it now looks a little like a puzzle. When it’s a little dirty you cannot notice it but when cleaned up and shinny you can see the different colors. Rust is here and there. Note the pictures. Battery box is clean and rust free. Frame rails have a few soft spots but overall the rust is not an issue. It’s far from perfect but drop dead reliable. Some things work some don’t. Tachometer hasn’t works in a couple of years. Power seat switchs work sometimes. Expect nothing and you will end up happy. All new unless noted Vac pump rebuilt Vac pump check valve Reman Front Calipers, hoses and pads Rear Brake pads Lower oil pan (drain plug threads worn out) Oil cooler lines Oil cooler (good used) Oil filter housing to block gaskets Radiator Coolant hoses (upper & lower) Fan belts Alternator (good used) Fuel injectors, seals & vac hoses Trans modulator Turbo oil return seals Trans cooler lines Tires have 3000 miles on them Exhaust from front to back.
