Vehicle Detail
It has come time to sell my beloved 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser. It is a Florida car (with a Florida title) with 223,650 miles on it (going up a little if I drive it this week). I have owned this Red 1997 Land Cruiser for 4-5 years and I'm the third owner. It is clean and rust free. It has been my daily driver, but I recently purchased another Land Cruiser (I wanted green and had been looking for several years). So I no longer drive this Red Cruiser very much, really don’t have any use for it and I don't want to just let it just sit there. This is a no reserve auction. This is the fifth Toyota Land Cruiser that I have had and, as usual, it runs great and has never let me down ever. I love this Cruiser. It runs really well (all Cruisers do!). This is the last year of this body style and it is built like a tank. These Cruisers are so SOLID and the engines are rated for 300K miles. Many Cruisers last for 500K miles without any major issues. This Cruiser is rust-free. I mean NONE. I recently moved to New York State from Miami, Florida and the Land Cruiser is from Florida. I bought it in May 2010 from a central / southern Florida area and it only arrived up here with me in New York earlier this year. This Cruiser has an XM / Sirius radio installed that works great. I love it and it goes with the vehicle. The windows are tinted. They were tinted as dark as Florida law allows. I had it tested by the State Police and it is legal. It does not have the optional differential lock. It has a full hitch for towing etc. I replaced the radiator two years ago. It has the Alloy wheels and all four center hub caps (bought recently). This Cruiser has the optional running boards (one has a small dent – hard to see). The A/C blows cold. The power sunroof works great with no leaks. It does have some scratches here and there, maybe a little fading, but overall it is in good shape. I have had the paint touched up now and then, but it is not perfect. The overall paint is good and it presents well but it has the minor dings etc that all 17 year old cars have. Since it is 17 years old, there are some things that are not perfect. I tend to be picky so I am going to list everything I can think of - Listed below are some of the things that I know are wrong with it: The power front seats do not operate – this had happened on 3 of the 5 cruisers I have owned. This is a common problem. Both seats are in the farthest back position for the most legroom. The upright portion of the seats do work, however, so you can tilt them as you please. The power windows work very slowly during cold weather, but work fine when the weather is warm. There is paint fading due to the Florida sun on the roof between the sunroof and the front window and farther back on the top. This is only visible if you are above the vehicle. The ‘check engine’ light is on – it has been on for several years. At first I would take it to my mechanic, who would fix it. Then the ‘check engine’ light would come on again a few days later. I finally gave up. Its probably a sensor. The right side front door lock does not work electronically – you have to manually lock this door (that works fine). I think it needs an actuator. It will need two front tires in a few thousand miles or so. The two rear tires are newer and have about 15000 miles on them. The wear on the two front tires shows that it may be toeing in a little. The leather is good inside. The driver’s seat has two small tears where you get in and out of the car. The back sets were rarely used, so they look newish. I have the third row seats if you want them. They are in storage. One of the backing lights in the radio is out. The radio works fine. The antenna is permanently down. The motor still works and hums with effort every time I shut off the car. I have been using the XM Sirius satellite radio for several years. The carpet is ok. It is original and has the original mats. It shows wear and tear and is not perfect. The rear bed does not have the top mat – there is only carpeting there and it is not perfect (has some stains and very scruffy areas with turf loss). The Cruiser uses a little oil. It leaks a few drops every time you shut it down and I probably use a quart of oil every month. I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil and keep it changed regularly. I replaced the shocks two years ago – since then there has been a noise from the right front shock tower area when you go over a substantial bump. My mechanic said it should have a rubber something in the mount of that shock (?) but that it wasn’t necessary. I got used to the noise when I hit a bump. The cruise control works for a little while, then it disengages. The windshield has a "star" crack in it. These are cheap to fix, if you want it fixed. The carpet could use a scrub. Please ask questions and I will answer them honestly. You may inspect the vehicle if you are located near zip code 14850. This is a pick-up only sale, so you must come and get the car yourself or make arrangements to have it transported. It is for sale locally as well as on Ebay. This is a no reserve auction. There is no warranty, implied or any other type of warranty.
