Vehicle Detail

For sale is a clean, running and driving, rust-free 1959 Chevrolet Spartan 80 series truck with factory original Workmaster Special 348 big block v8, original Napco four-wheel-drive conversion, and Luverne Fire Pump. I purchased this truck out of Belden, Nebraska where it faithfully served that community in their Rural Fire Department for many years. The odometer reads 18,635 miles. A video with lights and siren can be seen here LINK TEXT. The truck has been garage or barn kept its entire life. The interior of the truck is extremely clean. The doors close like new. The vinyl bottom of the seat is original, but someone re-upholstered the seat back. The original floor mat exists under the indoor/outdoor carpet. The truck has been cared for and looks and feels like a low-mileage survivor. Although the truck was ordered in 1959 in primer, I believe that it still wears its original paint as applied once the chassis-cab and Luverne Fire Apparatus were married together. The spotlights work, the siren works, the overhead lights work. I was not disappointed upon purchase, and do not believe that you will be either. There are two maintenance items that I am aware of that require attention. The original Rochester carburetor appears to have been replaced with a Holley four-barrel in the early 1970's. The automatic choke is not working properly. Also, the lower radiator hose leaks and must be replaced. The truck runs. The truck drives. The truck stops. I have not serviced the truck since I have owned it. I have not pulled the drums to inspect the brakes. I have not inspected the gear boxes. I am not aware of any issues other than those described. I will be travelling next week and may be slow to respond to inquiries, but will do my best to respond to all questions as quickly as possible. The truck is located under my barn in Burnet county, TX. I have a clear Nebraska title on the truck dated 1973 in the name of the Belden Rural Fire District. The reserve on this truck is reasonable, and not high considering the combination of a low-mileage Spartan 80 series truck with original paint, Workmaster Special 348 big block v8, original Napco 4wd conversion, and Luverne Fire Pump and accessories that appear to be in very good original condition.
