Our classic 1979 Mercedes 240D has been garage-kept most all of her life including the same owner for a 27-year span and is beautiful in both appearance and mechanical running condition. This body of this car is amazingly preserved free of any major rust due to its having resided in a garage most of the time. The floor pans, fenders and trunk areas are as solid as can be. Her preservation state shows the loving treatment she has received by our family over the years. The chassis is also known as the w123 body style. The oil and oil filter have just been changed less than 1,000 miles ago with Mobil 1 Delvac 5W-40 which is a diesel-rated oil. She shifts just as she should through all the gears and the preferred automatic transmission is smooth and reliable. The quiet yet peppy four-cylinder diesel motor was replaced from a 90k mercedes benz 240d donor car so there are many dependable miles left to enjoy this sedan. Turn the key once and the amber glow plug light will come on. After a couple of seconds the light will go off and with a touch of the key in the second position the motor easily starts with the sound of a finely-tuned diesel. There is no noticeable diesel fumes from the engine which means that it is running efficiently and properly and it will consistently deliver 28 - 32 mpg. All maintenance has been done on schedule and the valves have just been adjusted as required for these diesel engines to run with maximum efficiency. Both diesel fuel filters (main and pre-filter) changed within the last fifty-miles. The motor cranks easily and quickly regardless of the outside temperature. The oil pressure is always high and the operating temperature is and always has been right where is should be. The car goes through the gears smoothly with the automatic transmission. Having resided in the non-humid stable climate of the garage all her life the paint and body of this car are truly amazing especially considering she is 35 years old. As a true survivor she boasts the original paint job from top to bottom which shines with luster. The chrome sparkles in the sunlight and the rubber seals are in great shape being soft to the touch. The exterior paint is original sparkles and is mostly free of any visible dents or blemishes. There has never been any accident of any kind and her body is as straight as when new. All of the glass and windows are in crystal-clear condition and they all roll up and down easily. The interior is a taupe (medium dark) brown and is mostly in fine condition. The drivers seat has received some wear followed by the carpet around the back seat and the headliner in one place at the sunroof has a tear. The remainder of the interior is very attractive. All the door panels, passenger seat and rear seat and in beautiful condition with the signature Mercedes leather aroma evident upon entry. There is a large area sun roof which opens and closes as it should. The windows are manual and the power sunroof is fully-functional. The trunk compartment is very clean and does have the original jack, original spare tire and wheel and a nice trunk mat. The title is free and clear of any liens and in our name and possession ready to transfer to the new owner. Terms of Sale Please read the Terms of Sale before placing your bid. Payment and Contact Information Seller accepts a non refundable deposit of $500 via PayPal or bank money wire only within 24 hours of end of auction please. No checks for the deposit please. Balance of payment must be made within 72 hours of auction end by cash in person or bank money wire. No checks for the balance due please. The balance of payment made not be made by PayPal but by cash in person or bank money wire only please. If buyer wishes to wire the deposit and/or the balance of payment, please e-mail seller within 12 hours of auction end and seller will reply e-mail the bank account information to the buyer for wiring purposes. The car must be picked up within 7 days of the auction end or a $100/day storage fee applies. It is Buyer's responsibility to handle transport or shipping details. Title and Bill of Sale Seller has title free and clear in Seller's name for transfer to buyer upon balance of payment. The title is to be filled out completely with accurate sales price before Buyer leaves with vehicle. The Buyer's name on the title must be the same as the Buyer's registered name on eBay.
