With only about 2000 cars imported Mercedes 300SEL 4.5 long wheel base Limousine represents one of the rarest hand built top of the range Mercedes of the era. " Sky Blue" was delivered to Dr. Terezakis right here in Seattle, WA in 1972, and had remained in the same family all the way up to 2011, when widow of Dr. Terezakis had finally sold the car to a local collector/restorer. Having been always meticulously cared for and garaged it’s whole life Sky Blue remains in beautiful condition. Featuring flawless rust-free body with one repaint to original color. Underbody of the car has 100% original factory undercoating without damage. All weather-stripping is in good condition, glass is scratch free. The all important chrome trim particular to the 300Series is very nice. Interior remains in very good condition, complete and undamaged. All the wood trim is present and in good condition, leather interior remains soft, carpets are original in great shape. Headliner is intact and clean. 　 Mechanically the car is 100% road ready and is nothing short of excellent. Superb driving impression of a well sorted classic Benz! The big V8 engine starts instantly, cold start bumping up the idle slightly, but after a few minutes’ settles into a nice steady idle. The motor is very quiet, powerful and in excellent tune. Throttle response is instantaneous and the car is very quick off the line as well as passing at freeway speed. Very nice road manners complimented by the famous air suspension and astounding braking power. 4-speed automatic transmission is smooth shifting and quiet, downshifts on demand. There are no mechanical faults with this car, the car is very tight and powerful, and generally feels just like a new car! 　 Recent work on the vehicle includes complete air-suspension service with all new air bags (the suspension will hold pressure for up to 4 weeks as per factory specs), cooling system flush, new water pump and thermostat, fuel tank clean and new filters, brake work and oil change. Inside the car all the power accessories work very nicely, including all power windows, power door locks and the big Webasto sunroof. Original Becker radio works and sounds very nice through factory speakers in the rear parcel shelf. Heater control knobs are broken and will need replaced. Original electrical wiring is intact and not tempered with, all in working condition. AC blows well, may need recharged. In my opinion Sky Blue is one of the best Big Benz’ out there. It should make it’s new owner very proud. In person inspection is encouraged before the auction end, you will not be disappointed.
