Vehicle Detail

1972 Porsche 911T CoupeChassis number, 9112102791 with build date of July 72 making this one a late 72 model year. The original chassis sticker is still attached to the left side door jamb. The original color is Light Ivory confirmed by paint code 131-8-2 as shown on the paint code plate. The interior is black vinyl. It is missing the original 2.4 motor which was reportedly upgraded to a 2.7 displacement but was removed prior to the seller acquiring it from a relative’s estate. The wiring harness and fuel lines for the engine is intact as well as the original Bosch CD box and MFI fuel lines. The original transmission is still mounted in the chassis. It is unknown as to the condition of the transmission but since it was not removed with the engine, it is probable that it did not require any work and most likely in good working order. It has factory optional air conditioning with all the plumbing lines still intact with the original factory York compressor which was removed and will go with the car. The original 15x6 Fuchs alloys are still on the car on tires that are all flat. I can get a set of roller tires to move it for transport. There was no spare in the front trunk compartment. This is a restoration project missing its original 2.4 MFI engine. Will require replacement and repairs of the following: Front pan is rusted through in the battery box area. There is rust in the lower front corner of passenger door.Severe rust in the rear panel area will require major repairs. There is body damage to the left front wheel opening area. The rear apron where the rear license plate panel is attached to will require some work due to impact damage.Left rear bumper was also damage from same impact described above. The original floor pan appears to be in very good condition and showed no evidence of any rust damage. The original factory undercoating is intact and probably did a good job of protecting the floor pan from any rust damage. Both doors have good fit and gaps. The front hood also has good fit and gap with original undercoating. It had one repaint in the same Light Ivory (color code 134-8-2). I found no evidence of any body filler and except for the damaged left front wheel well opening and the impact to the rear bumpers and rear apron where the bumper guards and rear license plate panel attaches to. The pictures should depict the extent of rust repairs and panels replacement to properly restore the exterior panels and undercarriage. The passenger door glass was shattered and will need replacement. The rear glass, rear quarter glass, driver’s door glass, front fixed quarter glass and windshield glass are all intact. The interior will require complete restoration with the exception of both door panels which are in very good condition and did not have speakers holes cut. There is a plastic overlay over the original dash. Seating, carpeting and headliner will require complete replacement. Both seats are worn and the seat frames are damaged as well. A speaker hole was cut in the area behind the right rear jump seat back which will need to be filled in. There was also speaker hole cut into the left rear side panel just above the seat belt retractor mechanism. (seems like seller’s uncle couldn’t make up his mind where to mount the speaker) At least he saved the both door panels from being cut for more speakers. Both pull out door pockets are shot and deformed. The original factory optioned A/C vents mounted below the dash appears to be in good shape and can be restored. Original steering wheel will need restoration and recovered. All instrumentation gauges have some minor rust around the edges and will require restoration. The suspension appears to be original and most likely will require replacement of rubber bushings and all four shock absorbers. The odometer shows 98,795 miles and it is unknown if its actual miles. Being a 1972 model year, it has the unique one year only oil filler just behind the right side door. It has the optional 911S gauges and deco trims. Though it will require a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration, the upside of all this is early 911s have been rising in value these last few years. The buyer will have to make some choice as to how it will be restored since it can be ideal candidate for either a full restoration to its original stock configuration or for some, myself included, a suitable platform for an R Gruppe hot rod project. Since its missing its original 2.4 T motor a number of options is available to anyone for an engine replacement from a modest 2.7 upgrade to a 3.6 carburated or Vario Ram set up. I found this at a storage yard in Alameda, California where it was stored outside. I’ve been watching this car over a cyclone fencing and knew it was a restoration project. It appears to have been parked and forgotten. About a year ago, I asked the storage yard management to relay a message to the owner if they would be interested in selling it. Finally about a month ago, the owner finally called me and expressed interest in selling it. At that time, it was my intention to build an R Gruppe 911 hot rod so I made an offer to the seller and after a couple of days to think about it, we agreed on a final price and I committed to buying it without having a closer inspection. Having only seen it from the other side of a cyclone fence, I was well aware that it was going to be a major restoration project and I just knew it was going to be a good base car for my planned 911 hot rod project. Upon consummating the sale with the seller I was finally able to gain full access to the storage yard for a closer and more indepth inspection. Though I was quite surprised that the floor pan appeared to be solid with evidence of any major rust damage, the front battery box area had severe rust as well as the rear deck panel above the engine compartment which had severe rust damage. As I started doing some rough calculation of the cost and the time it would take to bring this project back to like, I came to the realization that it will require a lot more than what I had planned for and the time constraint and dollars to be invested is just something that was beyond my budget, hence I decided instead to sell it at this time. Though this one will require major restoration it’s a good base car to start with. Most importantly, it’s an early 911 and fully restored either to its original stock configuration or a bonafide R Gruppe hot rod 911, would be a neat car to restore and bring it back to life.I have bought and sold a few early 911s over the years but have never used eBay to buy or sell cars or parts so I have no seller's feedback to speak of. All I can say is I'm representing this car as best as I can describe it and the photos will depict the condition. Please bid only if you have the funds and can close the deal within 72 hours from the close of the bidding. I am open to phone calls and e-mails inquiry. The car is located here in Alameda, California (across the bay from San Francisco) and available for inspection to any serious bidder with advance arrangement.
