Vehicle Detail
This is a NO Reserve Auction 1967 MGB Roadster, has a clear Ohio title in my name, the vehicle is currently running and a great restoration project. I'm trying to be as honest as I can in the item description and revising it as needed, so feel free to ask questions. I'm not a car salesman. Vintage Haynes manual included in almost new condition still has most of the shrinkwrap. (2nd edition Haynes 62-74 has more info than the later editions) (a collectors item in itself) Steel dash with either dealer or factory installed original working Panasonic AM/FM radio (tuner dial sticks sometimes), original engine (engine number upon request), original 4 speed non-syncro trans, no overdrive, banjo axle, wire wheels. I bought this vehicle with the intention to restore it after I finished the 3 other MGB (71-74-78) project cars I have, but after 2 heart attacks I'll be lucky to finish the other projects if at all. Car was originally orange and painted British racing green by previous owners sometime in it's lifetime, it needs some body work and paint and some attention to a few dents and dings (right rear quarter panel is rusted out and needs replaced), inner trunk is in good shape except for where the right rear quarter is rusted, the frame rails look to be in good shape or I would have not bought it myself. Odometer does not work, has 114,092 miles to the best of my knowledge and just recently quit working and had 94,897 when I purchased it. Previous owner installed (new) SU's correct for application (they need to be shined up some). Have original SU box for the carbs if wanted. AUD135T Burlen # 372-248 SU HS4. Single 12v battery. New generator and regulator. New starter. Good oil pressure. Cockpit rear panel still intact, meaning no speaker hole cutouts into the boot. Drivers seat has a few splits (covered with tape), passenger seat in decent condition. Top and frame in fair to good condition. I have been contacted by a person who seems to think and I'm in agreement with after his reasoning of why he thought the fenders had been changed, so I'm revising back to my original listing that the fenders are from a later model 71/72 vehicle with the original grille replaced to the highly sought after fish mouth grille from a 71/72, by previous owners. (Thanks G) Tachometer is jumpy, I think it's the resistor. Needs a hood or bonnet prop, Turn signal and brake and running lights work, headlamps work but it might need a dimmer switch for brights. I hardly ever drive at night, so I never bothered fixing it. Small crack in windscreen passenger side top corner. Drivers side wing window missing (kids broke it out) Crack in glass on oil/temp gauge. Horns don't work or not hooked up, never had time to troubleshoot them. Needs oil dipstick tube replaced, it was broke when I got it and I substituted a piece of rubber hose cut to fit the part of missing tube. It works.... Possibly needs a transmission mount. (worn out) Previous owner installed a universal electric fuel pump and mounted it inside the engine compartment near heater, I haven't had any problems with it running but in my opinion it needs installed near the tank. Door cards could use recovering, no top rail caps on either doors. No jack or hammer for knockoffs, it didn't have them when I bought it. Wire wheel spare included. Vehicle needs a complete set of matching tires and spare. Brakes work and either needs a new emergency brake cable or adjusted. The clutch works and shifts as normal, with no abnormal sounds. Non syncro 1st gear. Steers in a straight line. Steering rack boots need installed, I have a new set I'll throw in on the deal. I have been driving it around the local area (50 mile radius) since I purchased it 11/29/10 to use while working on my daily driver and intended on restoring it. I would not recommend any long trips until vehicle undergoes a complete inspection for long range drivability. The vehicle is like any 47 year old car, it needs some attention and things replaced and or fixed but it's a solid car to start with. THE CAR HAS NO WARRANTY AND IS BEING SOLD AS IS. I can take more photos of the vehicle and email them if requested.
