Vehicle Detail
Aesthetically the car is nearly perfect except for the front right fender where a huge dent is now present courtesy of huge item falling on top of it accidentally while the car was stored inside the garage. Aside from this, at the time the pictures were taken, the car is a bit dusty however when dusted off the car's paint is remarkably shiny and glossy especially for its age. Underneath the beautiful paintwork is only metal and should register between 7-10 on a digital paint meter. Mechanically the car is very fast, definitely the fastest longhood Porsche I've owned and I've owned quite a lot of longhood variances from S, E and Ts. I can say for certain that the car will outrun even a 1973 Carrera RS easily from firsthand experience. The car although retaining its 100% original and unmolested chassis is heavily modified in drivetrain and is closer to an early Porsche 911 rather than its original Porsche 912. Every single body and chassis panel is genuine and factory original 46-year old true vintage survivor. No rust and body repairs, panel-cut up work and welding has been done to the chassis except for the professionally installed rear fender flares and the welded rollcage inside the cabin. All modifications, add ons or swapped components are genuine and era correct Porsche 911 parts. The overall condition for the car can be summed up in this statement: I will have no reservations whatsoever to drive this car to NY and back to NV tomorrow with no worries! The engine in the car is from an early G model Porsche 911 with aluminum alloy crankcase that currently displaces 2.8 liters and mated to a dog leg type 901 5 speed transmission. All clutch, flywheel and normal worn and torn components of the drivetrain have been replaced and all have less than 8000 miles on them. Being fully k-jetronic cis fuel injected the car has no startup issues even under extremely hot or extremely cold conditions and does not have the usual temperament of the 2.0L, 2.2L and 2.4L engines. The exhaust is less restricted courtesy of the Bursch exhaust system and of course the thermal reactors were dispensed with. For added cooling it has 11-blade fans. The car has fully adjustable front and rear suspension and has S brake calipers on Brembo cross-drilled rotors. The car is very sturdy and has stiffened Bilsteins all around. It has genuine 911 VDO instrumentation which were restored completely at NoHo Speedometers. The odometer was reset to zero and is yet to be hooked up. The mileage given in this auction is the best approximation of the 912 chassis before instrumentation conversion. It has a working aftermarket radio and CD. It has all brand new weatherstripping and rubber seals down to the inner window channels and so you will be surprised how airtight and quiet the cabin is at freeway speeds. Despite the roll cage, the car has a pristine black Porsche headliner in it. All decos and brightwork including the bumperettes later model flag side mirror are genuine Porsche and new. (original 1968 side mirror is included but glass is broken). It has a brand new Bosch Air Horn set since the original horn already sounded funny. The car was meant to be a "pocket rocket daily driver classic car" and therefore the go fast racing car approach could not be 100% full blown since it also had to be daily driver capable. All original glass are bone stock and perfectly intact. Although the currently installed seats are lightweight vintage Recaros which was imported from Germany, they are not racing seats but rather comfortable fully reclinable sport seats. As bonus, I am including a brand new driver side Recaro with holes built for harnesses for track day or slalom racing (see pic). There is no racing fuel cell and lightweight battery instead it has a fully restored original fuel tank and regular battery. The body is all metal including both bumpers and the only fiberglass panel is the ducktail lid however I am including the original stock engine lid shaved of the emblems with the original aluminum engine grill (see pic). For a clean lightweight treatment, the interior of the 912 chassis was "gutted" down to sheet metal (all rubbery rustproofing and sound deadening material was chemically scraped out) and then the bare 46 year old sheet metal was "heat painted". The same treatment was done inside the entire trunk compartment. For safety and rigidity a permanent welded roll cage was installed however the side door bars were customized and purposely fitted "low" to facilitate easy in and out seat access suitable to daily driving. The original 5.5 X 15 Fuchs wheels and skinny tires which were useless in containing the new power of the 912 were sold and replaced with wider 7 & 8 X 15 staggered genuine Fuchs wheels with Toyo Proxes tires which now better handles the increased power and torque. The car is quite torquey that it will spin the tires easily on 2nd and even 3rd gear on half abrupt clutching. If needed in cold climates, the car has a fully functional heating system with a brand new blower motor however I had not personally used the car in rain or snow not that it can't but I just hate doing it to this pristine classic. It also has a remote controlled ignition cut-out switch installed and this acts pretty much like a turbo timer. The car is built right and testimony to this, 2 years ago, the car sat for a little more than 13 months straight inside my hard-wood floored garage unattended while I was away overseas. The moment I returned stateside I attempted to start it and it started on first try without the battery being re-charged externally. It did not puff not even one tiny smoke and much more, did not drop one drop of oil the whole time it sat. What is most impressive is that 2 days after I first started it from sitting, I drove the car from LA to Vegas and back without one single issue. There is absolutely no issue with the car mechanically and absolutely no electrical gremlins that drain battery juice. The only item that needs to be addressed by the new owner aside from the right front fender repair is the replacement of one cam-lock set screw (not sure if that is the accurate name) for the rear passenger side trailing arm that is stripped due to over tightening. Consequently because of this, ride height on that corner should be checked. Inspections can be arranged via phone @ seven-zero-2 three-4-seven seven-4-eight-4. Before the auction ends, the car will be washed and detailed for immediate enjoyment of new owner. Bid with confidence as I have sold 2 cars here on ebay the past year and a half with positive feedback.
