Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a very nice 78 Porsche 911 SC Targa. This particular Porsche has a number of cool upgrades and drives very well. The 911 has one repaint in its original silver. Its never been damaged or rusty and has a great look with its Turbo style tail, flairs, H4 lights, factory Fuchs and lowered stance. The prior owner equipped this Targa with an excellent running 3.2 engine from an 88 911. It has its original fuel injection and other than an alloy flywheel, is un-modified. It has also been BAR certified and is smog legal in California and passes emissions easily. The engine runs very well and has just had a major tune up with all new fluids, filters, plugs, valve adjust, etc. The brakes were also flushed. I just had a four wheel alignment and installed new Toyo 888s(super sticky) tires. The sway bars and torsion bars are upgraded and the Fuchs are 16 7s and 8s. The Fuchs have been refinished and the competition valve stem retainers installed. There are a set of H4 headlight upgrades, a nice set of vintage Recaros and Momo Prototipo. The Momo also has an embossed Porsche crest leather center button. The interior shows well and door panels/pockets are intact. The Targa top works and seals well. This is a strong running Sc that handles very well. The car shows very well in factory silver and I receive compliments every time I take it out for a drive. The miles on the car are pretty low and the engine much lower-according to the PO. It really does run well. This Porsche is currently registered and insured in California in my name and has a clear California title. As stated earlier, no rust or damage history. This really is a wonderful air cooled 911 that can be enjoyed with its top off on a nice coastal drive-or enjoyed at an autocross. Is the car perfect? No. The suspension and tires are fairly stiff and while it handles great, its firmer than stock. The paint shows very well, but has a few flaws here and there-I'd consider it nice driver quality paint. The interior is also nice, but the dash had a few cracks that were repaired and currently is covered with a nice dash cover. The power windows work, but are a little slow as they all are with age. The seats and steering wheel are not stock, but much better for spirited driving. If third gear is rushed, there is an occasional minor noise from the syncro. The trans shifts fine and the clutch is fine, just don't rush third. This is an AC car and everything is there, just not charged or tested. We all know the recent rapid rise in value in the air cooled Porsche world. The SC models are some of the best 911s ever built and really do represent a wonderful and reliable way to enter classic Porsche ownership. The Targas are the next best thing to a convertible. This particular 911 has a subtle "hot rod", RGruppe flavor, yet remains smog legal, quick and reliable. Hear is your chance to pick up an air cooled 911 that is ready to enjoy now, painted in one of Porsche's iconic colors. Offered at no reserve, and "as is" with no warranty implied or stated. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
