The seats and cockpit rails are upholstered with the Black English leather with light Blue piping as factory installed, black carpeting and black door panels. A striking combination and much preferred to the ubiquitous red/black combo. This is a 64K mile (believed correct), numbers matching, 4-owner car that underwent the majority of its restoration between 2007-2009 by the previous owner at a cost of almost $30K. The chassis number GHNL2/101760 is # 1,408 out of 8,719 MkII’s built. This car comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the British Heritage Motoring Industry Trust showing dispatch from the factory on June 23, 1961 and is registered with NAMGAR (North American MGA Register) as car # 3769. It has its original high compression 1622 cc pushrod engine (GCU/ H/1509), 4 spd Moss gearbox (M1550) and 4.1:1 differential. I am only the 4th registered owner and it was actually in the same family until 2004 when the third owner, and experienced MGA enthusiast, purchased her with the goal of a full restoration back to original condition. The car is completely rust free, top and bottom. The body was stripped to bare metal, rusted panels repaired and repainted with 4 coats of urethane enamel in its original color of Iris Blue. The frame is straight, solid, never rusted and has never been accident damaged. All chrome has been replaced except windscreen which still looks good. I’m a tough judge and consider the car a “5 footer” with paint quality a 7 out of 10 due to some rock chips, small scratches, orange peel, etc. She is a beautiful looking high quality driver and is considered an honest #3++ on the Hagerty scale. The engine starts with one pull, runs smooth, idles steady with excellent compression and oil pressure (see pictures on photobucket). The original 1622cc engine has a new cam and rockers and still retains its original 1622 head which is very rare today (16 stamped on right rear corner of the head). Carbs, mechanicals and hydraulics have all been rebuilt. The 4-spd gearbox was completely rebuilt by John Esposito at Quantum Mechanics and is quiet and strong. In the last 2 years I have rebuilt the entire suspension, from tie rods and kingpins to shocks, wheel bearings and all new poly bushings. What a difference that made! New wiring harness and all rebuilt electrical components. All gauges work properly with only the turn signal switch return still needing work. The steering wheel is a 15-inch Mahogany wood wheel by Moto-Lita in England. Even the ashtray is originally fit to the car. NEW / REBUILT PARTS: · Fully Rebuilt Gearbox by John Esposito (Quantum Mechanics – MGA Gearbox Expert) · Clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing · Black English leather seats with light Blue piping (same for cockpit rails) · Engine has a new cam and rockers, new gaskets and water pump · Vredestein Sprint Classic (165HR15) tires · Robbins convertible top (Black Vinyl) · Wooden floor boards · Set of restored 60 spoke wire wheels, bead blasted, primed and painted · Body restored by John Ensign (Ensign Auto Body) in New York · Body painted by Malcolm Jennings (MGA Restorer) · New original type Wiring Harness · Marchel European front headlights · Rebuilt master cylinder and rear brake cylinders (White Post) · Rebuilt front brake calipers, pads, and new brake lines, flex hoses · Rebuilt carbs (Apple Hydraulics) · All 4 lever shocks rebuilt (World Wide Auto) · All new wheel bearings and seals, tie rods, suspension seals, and poly bushings all around · Pertronix electronic ignition, New Lucas Sport coil, wires, plugs, rotor · Replaced generator brushes and contact springs · New Lucas Fuel pump, new gas lines, coated gas tank. · Factory carpet set installed (Black nylon pile) with ARMCO floor mats · Many other new and rebuilt parts with invoices (too many to list here) My MGA is in fantastic driving and beautiful looking condition, currently driven on weekends and garaged. She is truly a pleasure to drive at speed, is very reliable, and must been seen to be fully appreciated. We’ve had a great time together but, unfortunately, I have to make room for another recent old car purchase (3 cars, 2 space garage!) and now and I must send her on the next caretaker. I am not representing (or pricing) this MGA as a #1 condition 100 point show car. Please do not feel the need to write and let me know about the incorrect hose clip, non-original braided hose connecting the carbs, or the dash top painted body color. I already know and like it her just the way she is! I am not desperate to sell so please – serious inquiries and buyers only and no brokers. That said, I have a very fair reserve given the quality of this MGA and need the garage space back so email me to discuss any questions and I’m glad to set up a visit. Please note: Car is listed for sale locally and auction may be ended early. For extra cost I am also will to sell the following MGA parts: - 2 sets of rebuildable side curtains. - Barely used set of 4 Panasport wheels with earless spinners Thanks for your interest in my MGA.
