Vehicle Detail

An exquisite, fully operable example of the finest motoring.....................Oh, cut the crap. I'll tell ya what we really have here. It's a 62 440 American Rambler convertible. It plain just runs and drives very well. Get in it, turn the key and drive where ya want to. In short, that's it.For those of you who wanta know more, I hate reading long winded blah, blah, blah. Worse, I hate writing it. Yuck, where to start. Car is from the south, had Atlanta, Georgia (Robbins AFB) on it. Moved to California and came under my flock about six years ago. Yup, was in dismal shape- had no interior, cracked windshield and a bunch a stuff that did not work. But,...it was a drop-top and straight body. More details:Engine has not yet been overhauled, neither has trans. It did get a new cylinder head including the new valves. Does run very well, but needs oil checked periodically with use. It starts every time and runs well, so I have not bothered with a rebuild. It completed a trip to Phoenix, Az and back this spring. I took on a trip to the beach and back over hundred miles just two weeks ago. Oh, so ya had to ask THAT question. I have two more of these, and a Studebaker truck. I can't afford to restore all of em. This car was bid to $6600 on ebay over a year ago, but the bidder/buyer bailed. Yeah, the three B's of ebay. Much time and $$$ were spent to do all things I could and still drive the car. Everything on the engine (components) are new or rebuilt. New exhaust, u-joints, new trans rear seal. New muffler. Replaced windshield with the correct Solex tinted type which all the windows have. Top motor and top cylinders all refurbished. Top is about three years old, the rear window has yellowed and not safe to drive to see, but it is there. Are we done yet? No, well then think-a-this. One of the most expensive repairs of these cars are the suspension. Not to worry, it's all new! That includes new shocks front and back. I did all the "little" things these cars need to make them complete. Replaced old cracked instrument cluster, rebuilt fan/heater motor, wiper motor, heater core, enlarged radiator, etc., Like I said, basically, all ya gotta do is watch yer oil, put gas in and drive it.Watcha get is a darn good car that needs finished at yer pace to whatever level you decide for it to be. I do not have door panels or the rear quarter panels that go on either side of the rear seat that cover the top cylinders. There is no carpet. The floors are solid. I did manage to locate seats. It has stuff collected that go with it, locks, most trim. All-in-all, the pictures tell the story. What it will need: Eventually a lower engine rebuild. When rebuilding the front-end suspension, I did not rebuild the steering gear box. The usual window felt and insulation guides in front doors. Oh, nearly forgot, minor surface rust on lower edge of doors, only place I've ever found it. Upholstery. Paint it your choice, but it don't need it. Front brake drums are scored but work.Notes: I have worked on AMC 's for years and would offer leads/knowledge to get this to the level desired by buyer. This car may, of course, be seen, heard, and driven upon appointment. The dirty deed of purchase. A NON-REFUNDABLE $250 deposit within 48 hours of close of auction. (Paypal)Balance due within 5 days of end of auction. Car can be held for up to 15 days from date of auction close. I can deliver the car to a local (within 25 miles) pick/up transport site or exporter. I can be available for same from my location.
