Vehicle Detail
* This vehicle is now listed locally and therefore may be remove from eBay listing if sold. MUST SELL ASAP!!! The car will be displayed publicly 1 last time this weekend 10/11/14 at Sterling's Sam's Club (45425 Dulles Crossing Plz. Sterling VA 20166) unless sold before that date. * A Total of 86,000 1986 Mazda RX7 were produced, 56,243 were sold in US and only 21,372 of US sold RX7's were Base model... just FYI 1986 Mazda RX-7 1.3 liter rotary engine with only 68k original miles. Never driven in the snow. Stored in a home garage. Interior is sound (except side torn on driver's seat) and mostly untouched. Body has some wear (Car is 28+ years old). Some rust spots around vehicle and some paint blemishes caused by dormant 20yrs of inactivity where it was stored before I purchased vehicle on 6/2011 as a hobby for restoration. Mostly around sunroof and door frames but there are some around hatch. I left the body alone so the original condition could be observed. You can repaint if you like or drive as is. I drive the car less than 3000 miles per year. It drives great, never stalled or failed to start and no smoke. * To answer a common question.... YES, I have been the only registered owner of this car since it's delivery to the dealer on 3/1986... the car was driven by the dealer owner and was therefore never sold to anyone. He then passed away in 1991 when the bank took ownership of all dealer assets. The car was parked undriven from 1991 to 2011 almost 20yrs before it was auctioned, and I then purchased the car from the auction becoming the 1st registered owner. List of work done and parts: Fluids: engine oil change (Royal Purple 5w-30), manual transmission fluid (Royal Purple 75w90), rear differential fluid (Royal Purple 75w90), brake fluid (STP Dot3-4 Synthetic). All top quality fluids used, and all oil based fluids are synthetic (Royal Purple and STP) Gaskets: New Exhaust and Intake manifold gaskets, Dynamic Chamber and plenum gaskets, and all exhaust gaskets. Components: New Rubber shifter bushings, spark plugs (NGK Mazda RX-8 Iridium), spark plug wires, air filter, new brake master cylinder and slave cylinder, fuel pump and fuel filters replaced, starter motor, MAF sensor, 4 Falken ZE512 tires and currently have over 75% tread, Duracell performance battery, horn and horn relay, new wipers and all interior plastics were painted by Brown's Mazda body shop to match original color. Upgrades: Tokico Blue HP struts, TEIN Coil Springs (1.5" lower and 30% stiffness), F1 Aluminum Flywheel, Clutch Pressure Plate and Stage-2 Clutch, Energy Suspension HyperFlex Performance Polyurethane Master Bushing Kit, OBX SS Headers, Racing Beat SS Pre-Silincer, OBX SS 3" Y-Pipe and Universal Mufflers, Mazda Miata Short Shifter, New Leather Shifter Boot. * I also have ashtray, cigarette lighter, steering covers, glove compartment lock/handle and many other parts. I have not put them back because I was still reconstructing the vehicle before my I got in my current situation. I will give you EVERYTHING I have for this car. Car runs and starts great, even in cold weather. It has a bad ground somewhere (common RX-7 issue) and revs up and down when idle ( + 200rpm) and a slight and quick lag at 3800rpm which is caused by a poor ground somewhere... I know I'm missing many minor replaced components and upgrades, but feel free to contact me for any questions. To complete the restoration it needs interior carpet ($230-$280), Window guards ($150/pair), fix passenger door handle, replace TPS ($160-$190), re-align new clutch, replace weather seal on front windshield and off course a nice paint job... I also have over $500 in extra parts that I will give with car. I currently have 3 of 4 original vehicles at the beginning of summer and need to sell 2 more before the end of year. Unfortunately I have no place to store vehicles where I'll be moving and requires me to sadly part ways with 3 out of the 4 cars... with 2 more to go...sigh! * Car can be driven anywhere even though it currently has Antique plates (restricted to within 250miles from registered address) No trades, money order, cashier's check or cash only, please only serious inquires. Bid with confidence. My feedback is excellent. Detail list of work done on vehicle. I have receipts for most items and as you can see I'm selling for much less than invested money, but I did restoration for fun and enjoyment... now I must sell ASAP. _____________________________________________________________________ Tokico HP/Blue Struts Set (Front+Rear) $431.00 Tanabe GF210 Lowering Performance Springs $197.99 Prothane Polyurethane Suspension Kit $84.64 Prothane Polyurethane Front Sway Bar End-Link Bushings $28.88 Falken Ziex ZE-512 205/60R-14 (x4) $288.00 Brake Slotted/Drilled Rotors w/ Ceramic Pads $231.00 Stainless Steel Brake Lines $54.95 Rear Brake Hardware Kit $27.17 Front Brake Hardware Kit $24.65 Rear Caliper Rebuild Kit $48.00 OBX Catback System w/ Y-Pipe $375.00 OBX Headers $210.00 Mass Air Flow Sensor $128.52 Custom Air Intake $80.00 Bypass Air Control Valve (BAC) $39.95 Bosch Oxygen Sensor $39.92 TPS (Throtle Positioning Sensor)/Used $35.00 Intake Manifold Gasket Kit $42.00 Racing Beat Pre-Silincer $254.00 Borsch Fuel Pump Kit $60.00 NGK Spark Plugs (x4) Iridium $104.00 Spark Plug Wires $20.79 Fuel Filter $20.00 Voltage Stabilizer $59.99 NSA Starter w/Solenoid $90.02 Ignition Switch Harness $57.35 OEM Horn $154.48 ($34.48 + $120.00 labor) 7x6 Projector Head Lamps $51.95 Performance Wipers $37.90 Windshield Washer Pump $22.94 Sound Proof treatment $50.00 Rear Spoiler $105.00 Razo Short Shift Knob $44.49 Short Shifter $36.00 Aluminum Engine Oil Cap $19.99 Repair Manual $18.21 Spark Plug Wire Separator Clamp Kit $13.90 Sunroof Motor $29.95 Dash Surround Bezel Vents $59.99 Radio Trim Surround Bezel $129.95 Climate Control Temparature Switch $65.00 Warning Lights Cluster Bezel $59.95 Warning Lights Center Cluster $34.82 Instrument Gauge Cluster $91.34 Battery Tray Engine Bay Mount/Stand $24.00 Oil Level Sensor $50.12 Gripforce Stage 2 Clutch Kit $124.00 Gripforce Aluminum Flywheel w/ Counter Balance $302.00 $4,558.80 Total Expense + $250.00 for interior paint job on plastic trims * This is total expenses NOT including the $2800.00 that I paid for the vehicle on auction. NADA rates this make, model and year at an average of $3900.00 (that means with over 200k miles and average conditions for 28+yrs old vehicle. Prices are from $2900 - $6700 based on conditions. I'm selling BELOW average and with more than $4000.00 invested just on reconstruction. Disclaimers: WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) - No Deposit Refund or Vehicle Return after transaction is completed This vehicle IS 28yrs old and the buyer should take this into consideration when making the purchase. The vehicle has a low serial number as it was manufactured on February, 1986 and directly imported from Japan, therefore it does not have any on-board computer (ODBC, ODBC-II, etc). EPA new vehicle requirements in the USA became effective in July, 1986. Powertrain (Engine, Transmission, Differential) is completely OE from the manufacturer and never rebuilt or opened. All interior (except radio) is OE from manufacturer or aftermarket to OE specifications. Rotary engines ARE NOT reciprocating engines (Piston Engine), therefore they do not have as many internal component (less than 40%) that piston engines. No timing belt (chain driven from crankshaft), only accessory belt. With proper care and maintenance this engine is rated from Mazda with a MTBF of 200,000km (124,275mi) and the cost of rebuilt is about 20-35% less than a standard reciprocating engine if needed.
