Vehicle Detail

1987 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL- In original, excellent condition, low 88,491 miles. Garaged for most of its life and owned by an elderly party that had all necessary service work done at the Lincoln dealer. The care this car received is obvious when you see it. Drive in style in a classy car that can be used everyday for short money. If you aren't a collector or enthusiast, it's still a great set of wheels or a bigger, safe car for a college student. I specialize in "poor man's classic cars"- cars that are ignored by most collectors, but are truly unique and hard to find, yet affordable (it's a hobby as well as a part time business)and this is a great example of one. This may be the best special interest car available on Ebay for less than $4000, especially if you are looking for something unique and complete to drive everyday, yet will get you loads of attention and questions. In my opinion, this is a future "classic". This is the last generation of down-sized Lincolns, and is built on the same chassis/drivetrain as the Fox body Mustangs. Indicative of its rarity, at the time of this posting out of over 60,000 used car listings on Ebay, there are only 3 of this 1982-1987 generation for sale- one is over $4500 with reserve not met, the other is an older non-running "barn" find. The car was garaged for most of its life and it shows. A true luxury car that is not overpowering in size, it has a super clean leather interior, all power, and a classy yet subtle look. The engine is a smooth running 5-0 liter V-8 with rear wheel drive. Mechanically the car is excellent- a/c blows cold, electronics work ( power antenna is not working, yet it will raise and lower manually), all power windows, auto dimming headlights, etc. work as they should. The am/fm/cassette stereo is excellent, and sounds fantastic when using an $11 adaptor for my Ipod in it. The air suspensions on these are always a problem, so I converted the front suspension to springs ( new Eibacher). The rear air suspension is working fine, but could be easily converted as well. I did not disable the overhead check suspension light that is on because of the conversion, but I can provide directions to do so if you wish. The tires are almost new. Car runs, drives, stops as it should. Body wise the car is in incredible shape save for one small spot of paint bubbling about 6" long in the drivers side rear valance, down low below the chrome trim- it is hard to see, but is also an easy fix. The paint is shiny and looks great with a few scratches typical of any car driven everyday. I have the proper matching spray (4l- Prairie Mist) with clearcoat which I will included with the sale, unless I get time to do it. The underside is solid and very clean. The drivers side headlamp/parking light bezel lens has a star crack in it- if you are a perfectionist, these are available on Ebay for about $40. The underside is solid and very clean. That is as complete a run down as I can give you, so you know exactly what you are getting. It's always difficult to list negatives, but I think it's important to honestly divulge everything you can about a car since many buyers may not have the opportunity to inspect the cars in person. I would of course welcome anyone to view it. The car is sold as is, as described, with no warranty expressed or implied. I have described the car to the best of my knowledge, but remember, it's a 29 year old car, and may require some tinkering or minor repairs that I have missed. If you have questions, please ask before bidding, I will answer any and all. I have a clear Massachusetts title in hand. About my feedback- this is a new endeavor for me, separate from my other Ebay business I have operated for over 13 years. My feedback under "baronvonplastic" is well over 17,000 positives and currently 100%. In addition to my hobby business, I have had a number of sales on that site for cars, parts, and classic motorcycles. I thought it was time to separate the two. About "Poor Man's Classics" : Visit my blog under the same name if you get a chance- I want to hear your opinion on forgotten classics. I love to find unique and forgotten "collectible" or special interest cars that in my opinion are undervalued and neglected by collectors, and don't cost a fortune to run or fix up. Not those high priced muscle cars and exotics you see on the TV auctions, but cars that guys (or gals) that don't have a lot of money can enjoy just the same. They may not always be glamorous or exotic, but they always get looks and questions, are fun to drive and take to cruise nights, and may even go up in value. I've been a car hobbyist and have been in the car business for over 40 years, so although I may not always be right when it comes to desirability or collectibility, I have a pretty good idea of what's hard to find. From there, beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say.
