1969 Dodge Charger 383 Special Edition BARN FIND !! Watch video of it starting up after it was first pulled out of the barn! If the link does not work then copy and paste the link into your browser. http://youtu.be/2eKYhPx2NEM Well its time to let it go..... I don't have the time to restore this baby which I always dreamed of restoring ever since I got it. I've owned it for quite some time now and I always stored it in my barn away from the weather. I was surprised how the car started right up after years of sitting. The car needs a complete restoration but has the original interior still in it and is in pretty good shape for a 45 year old car! The interior door panels are very nice too! The bumpers look good and the headlights turn and work too The door has rust in the typical areas but is fixable. When I bought the car the vinyl top had already been removed. The rear roof sails has some rust through and needs attention. The car came with a aftermarket rear drivers quarter panel which goes with the car. I believe the 383 is original to the car but I never checked it. The car has some floorboard repairs and the rear valance needs to be replaced. The Front valance and the hood and doors are very nice. Even the bottom of the doors look good too. I have a trunk full of chrome pieces for the vinyl roof. The front drivers fender is good and the passenger as a little rust through on top of the fender and above wheel well but otherwise in pretty good shape. The trunk lid is good but was replaced before I got it. The trunk floor is all there but has some weak spots. The car is a true Barn Find!!! Come buy this car and restore this baby back to a roadworthy Charger! Shipping to be arranged by buyer. Car must be picked up within 3 days of auctions ending. US buyers only. Do not bid if you do not have 100% positive feedback with a steady history of ebay feedback. Thanks and Good Luck!! On Sep-29-14 at 07:05:30 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE DO NOT PLACE BIDS IF YOU HAVE NO FEEDBACK OR LESS THAN 100% FEEDBACK. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS CAR YOU NEED TO HAVE SOMEONE ELSE BID ON YOUR BEHALF THAT HAS A PROVEN TRACK RECORD. I HAVE SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT WANT TO SEE THE CAR ALREADY AND I WILL SCHEDULE THEM TO SEE IT. ANYONE IS WELOME TO SEE IT BEFORE THEY BID BUT TO BE FAIR TO EVERYONE THE AUCTION MUST RUN ITS COURSE AS THIS IS ONLY FAIR TO ALL. THE WATER PUMP HAS SPRUNG A LEAK FROM SITTING. THE CAR IS NOT REGISTERED FOR ON THE ROAD SO BRING A DEALER PLATE IF YOU WANT TO DRIVE IT! I APPRECIATE ALL THE MESSAGES I AM GETTING AND I WILL TRY AND ANSWER THEM AS SOON AS I CAN. I WILL TRY AND ADD PICTURES SOON TOO....On Sep-30-14 at 06:15:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I just added two photos of the VIN plate and the Fender Tag. I Placed the information on the Fender Tag and it gave me the following: XP29:Dodge ChargerPremium2 Door Sports Hardtop G9B: 383 290HP 1-2BBL 8 CYL1969Dodge Main, Hamtramck, MI, USA 172247:Sequence number E61: 383 cid 2 barrel V8 290hpD32: Heavy Duty Automatic Transmission: Unknown Exterior ColorF5: Trim - Luxury, Cloth/Vinyl Bucket Seats, Unknown ColorF8CRG: Unknown Int. I drove the car to my mechanic and he replaced the water pump so that not leaking anymore. I did smell gas though and the accelerator pump on the after market Holley carburetor is dripping onto the manifold. The carb is also missing the choke assembly. The fuel pump is leaking too. My mechanics say this is typical from a car sitting along time with old fuel in it. WATCH THESE TEST DRIVE VIDEOS!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjT2vuja8w8 (driving down road) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zKLaWaajBo (driving down road and interior) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcWQ2Ekac00 (At intersection- turning left) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVjwKmmdTNI (hideaway headlight Check) NOTE TO ALL: THIS IS A "BARN FIND" CAR! SOME OF YOU THINK THIS IS READY FOR SHOW AND IT IS BY FAR NOT THE CASE. YOU NEED TO FULLY UNDERSTAND AND I HAVE SAID THIS FROM THE BEGINNING YOU ARE GOING TO NEED TO SPEND SOME TIME AND MONEY TO RESTORE THIS NEARLY ORIGINAL/ SURVIVOR/ BARN FIND /1969 DODGE CHARGER SPECIAL EDITION CAR. THIS CAR IS 45 YEARS OLD AND HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRY GARAGE FOR OVER 9 YEARS! THE INTERIOR: The Odometer says 87,620 miles on it. The gauges are a little brown in color which is typical for the mopars. The AM radio does not work but another factory radio comes with the car but I do not know if that works either. The windshield wipers work on both speeds. I did not test the squirts as the reservoir under the hood is dry, brittle, and cracked and needs replacing. The interior brake light is on but I have brakes. Someone says its a pressure switch? The dash pads all look pretty good with no cracks. The pad below the radio is a little stained. The seats I think look great for being all original. A couple of minor cracks in drivers seat. The header panel looks not bad with the exception of a couple mouse nibbles I noticed. THE OUTSIDE. The undercarriage shows 45 years of being in Western New York. The original undercoating, grease, dirt, grime, rust, and rot are all apparent. The floorboards I would replace in the car including the trunk. The prior owner(s) patched the floorboards. The rims are not original and are aluminium and are oxidized. I would replace them with original rims. The tires have tread but are old!The Drivers side quarter is the worst of all them but the previous owner provided me a aftermarket quarter panel with some dings in it.The passenger side quarter needs metal work on the lower portions. The doors look really good with a minor rust area on the drivers door towards the front.Drivers Fender looks pretty good and I believe is original. The hood looks pretty good with a minor dent (ding) towards front. The underside of hood has some surface rust and no insulation. The passenger side turn signal is missing. The trunk lid is solid but is from another car.The lower rear valence needs replacing. The metal around the tail lights needs repair in areas as some rust through which again is typical in the 1969 Chargers. The front valance looks good with some minor surface rust. The passenger fender has some rust through on top which is visible in photos. I think this area can be cut out and repaired. The hidden headlight doors open and close (wink) as they should and all do. One of the high beam bulbs are out.Roof: Vinyl top was removed by prior owner. Surface rust on top. The rear sails by the rear window have some rust and holes from moisture most likely caused by trapped moisture under the vinyl top.All the glass on car is there and unbroken but the rear window is not installed as it appears it was removed by the prior owner when the vinyl top was removed. UNDER THE HOOD: 383 CI - Unknown if its original.intake is aftermarket and is a Edelbrock.Carburetor is a Hollley and is missing the choke/butterfly flapper and the accelerator pump on front is dripping gas. My mechanic says this is also because of sitting so long. The fuel pump is leaking too. The inner wheel well panels under the hood show some rusted area around the shocks. The radiator does not leak but an aftermarket transmission cooler is installed in front of the radiaator. The tranny lines go directly to this instead of the radiator. IN TRUNK: Surface rust on floor as original mat retained some dampness over the years. THe floor shows some thin areas with holes towards the interior of the car. I would replace the floor. The right and left show some rust but look not bad. The hump towards the rear seat looks good! The car is sold as is and where is with no warranty expressed or implied. All are invited to inspect the car prior to the close of the auction if they wish. Please message me as I am available. On Oct-04-14 at 17:19:40 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATED INFORMATION Today I had my mechanic replace the fuel pump as it was leaking fuel out of the weep hole. The gas is still dripping from the accelerator pump on the front of the Holley Carburetor (Not Original) onto the intake manifold We did get a chance to look at the side of the block which shows a 8 * 27 * 68 Casting date code on side and a Casting No of 2468130-8 on the side also which means the block its a 383 CI B Engine for a 59-71 year. The fifth digit in the VIN number is a "G" which means its a 383 also. I can't find any other markings except "LL" on the side of the block which I have no idea what that means. The car has an aftermarket external Transmission cooler mounted in front of the radiator. I also added (9) more photos of the underneath and the area around the rear window where after the vinyl roof and rear window were removed you can see the rust through around the window. The floors still have what looks like the original undercoating on the bottom under carriage. I took some pics to show some of the weathered areas. The floors need to be replaced but I am sure whomever is buying it is going to do a complete restoration anyway. This car really is a 45 year old almost un-restored car. Most of the stickers and tags under the hood are original from day one. The interior is 45 years old and still looks good!?! That's what made me look at it when I bought it. Most Chargers have had everything butchered right out of them and have seats and dashboards that are not anything like the original. This car needs the right person to take this and restore it hopefully to original condition. The trunk picture shows all the chrome and plastic parts that goes with the car. I also have a aftermarket drivers side quarter panel included with the car as the drivers side quarter panel below the center crease line is probably the worst part of the car. Someone tried to be a collision repair man but failed miserably in my book. The metal on the upper portion of the drivers quarter looks pretty solid to me. An AM Dodge Radio I bought at a swap meet is included with the car I but never tried it. There is seat belts which are the lap belts I think for this car but again this is how I received the car parts too when I bought it. I have a gas pedal in the box too. A Gas tank to filler tube seal (brand new) is also included in the trunk as when I first got the car that leaked but it does not appear to be leaking right now. I Do not have the chrome rocker panel piece for the drivers side of the car. This car will sell to the qualified bidder. THIS CAR IS SOLD AS-IS/ WHERE IS/ HOW IT IS/ WITH NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. THIS CAR IS A BARN FIND CAR AND IS BEING SOLD AS SUCH. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A BARN FIND CAR IS THEN ASK SOMEONE. WIKIPEDIA HAS THE FOLLOWING DEFINITION OF WHAT A BARN FIND CAR IS: " A barn find is a classic car or motorcycle that is discovered abandoned, usually in derelict condition. The term comes from its tendency to be found in places such as barns. Many of the people who discover barn finds tend to be collectors and offer to purchase the car so as to clean it, fix it, and in many cases restore it. Barn finds have been auctioned for thousands of dollars before any work has been done and have been seen atPebble Beach Concours d'Elegance unrestored." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barn_find DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE $$FUNDS$$ OR 100% POSITIVE FEED BACK WITH A HISTORY OF BUYS AND OR SELLS. I have had people try to come and look at it and kick the tires and try to buy it outside the auction which I have said from the beginning I will not do as its not fair to the others bidding on this car now. I told them to go home and bid on the car. I mean don't get me wrong if somebody offered me an insane price I guess I would end it.I even have family members a little miffed I am selling it too but I have too many projects going now. ***I have a rare 1970 Chevelle Malibu Convertible 6 cyl (Only 381 produced) and a 1987 20 Year Commemorative Edition Camaro IROC Convertible all Original paint with 25,000 original miles going up possibly real soon here on Ebay too so keep me on your watch list if your a Chevelle or Camaro guy too like me!*** GOOD LUCK TO ALL!! :)
