I bought this well-preserved, original 1972 Saab 96 just eight weeks ago but with deep regret I must sell it due to mounting medical bills from my chemo treatments. I looked long and hard for a solid Saab 96 without any major rust issues and this car is it. Apart from the bottom of both door skins which are quite rusted, the rest of the body is very solid. It had been stored indoors for the last 35 years and hasn't been rained on during all those years until it was delivered to me. Best of all, it runs great, shifts smoothly and stops on a dime, although the handbrake needs to be adjusted for it to work. Headlamps, turn signals and hazard lights all work, as does the heater and blower fan. The headliner and all of the interior upholstery are in very good condition with no rips or stains, and the headrests and rubber Saab floor mats are fairly rare options. The doors lock, and the radio works. The rocker panels, bottom door jams, floor pan, trunk pan and the lower firewall are perfectly solid, but some knucklehead put a bit of silicon on some of the exterior body seams, yet there really is no noticeable rust issues anywhere on the body. The top side of the body is the original factory-applied paint but the lower portion had been repainted some 25 years ago, and needs to be repainted. An aftermarket Weber carb has been installed atop the smooth running V-4 engine, the battery is fairly new as is the front exhaust head pipe, and there are no cracks in the glass. And it comes with lots of spares including bumpers, instrument panel with gauges, lenses, new brake rotors and brake pads, car cover and the original owner's manual and tool kit. Odometer shows 24,441 miles, which may be true because the odometer numbers are perfectly aligned, but I honestly don't know if it's actually 124,441. It's an honest, solid, condition #3 car that has been very well cared for its entire life, and now only needs minor work to make it outstanding. But until then, just drive it and have fun!
