Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1947 Ford 2-door coupe. Very original car. My father purchased this car around 1975 and it has been in dry storage ever since. We dug it out of the shop and rolled it outside for photos.. was the first time this car has seen daylight in decades! Dad owned a body shop from 1970 - 1999, so of course he had aspirations of restoring this car, but didn't get much further than taking off the fenders and quarter panels, stripping them and putting them in primer. Those 4 large parts were put up in the rafters of the shop, where they've hung for at least the past 35 years or so. I'm 41 years old and I don't remember ever seeing dad lay a finger on this car, that's how long it's been sitting dormant, covered up in the shop. The only thing I have seen him do is buy parts over the years at swap meets and car shows. The trunk is filled with NOS parts he collected. 4 NOS Ford hubcapsNOS exterior trim piecesNew muffler, still in boxNew, replacement steel running boards (one side was very rotted, other side not so bad)Original spare tire still in trunk (looks to never have been used)Many, many re-chromed trim piecesFront and rear bumpers were wrapped in newspaper (dated 1976), also hanging up in the rafters. They look nice, as if they were re-chromed, but apparently the re-chroming process has come a long way in the past 40 years because they don't look nearly as perfect as newly re-chromed bumpers look on show cars today. The car does have some exterior rust problems, but for the most part this is a solid car. The engine compartment looks completely original. Perhaps the best part of the car is the interior... very, very original and in great shape for a 67 year old car. Please email any questions, or contact me to come by to look at the car. Car is located in Monroe, NC. I don't want to mislead anyone, but I think the new owner will be very pleased with the amount of new parts coming with this car. I could do very well selling the car as is, then piecing out the NOS stuff one at a time on ebay or elsewhere, but my dad loved this car so much I feel like it should all stay together so someone can bring it back to it's original glory using all the parts he spent a lifetime collecting. I hate to sell it, but he left me many, many other projects so I'm only keeping the ones I feel I can finish in my lifetime. If you would like to call with questions, please call and leave a message at (seven zero four) - 841 - 4491. VIN listed above is not accurate, I will update listing with additional photos and accurate VIN soon.
