Vehicle Detail
1965 CORVAIR CORSA 140! Sometimes a classic car comes along that just "talks to you". This 1965 Corsa is one of those cars. Personally, I have owned plenty of 50s and 60s IRON. This piece of Americana drives BETTER (and is more enjoyable and comfortable to use on a daily basis) than ALL of them! In fact, the air-cooled 911 has been parked in the garage next to the Corvair for the better part of the last year and half, and hardly moved! Click picture to watch iPhone video taken this evening 8/27/14! You are looking at a genuine matching numbers Corsa 140 with 4-speed transmission. I make no claim to be a Corvair expert but I do believe it left the factory with several options including a push button AM radio, dimming rear view mirror, fold down rear seat, and two speed windshield wipers. Last year it had the following items installed: New tires, new GREAT sounding exhaust system, new brakes, new shocks, and new fuel tank. I have driven this car daily for the last year and half and it still amazes me how well it runs in town, as well as LONG trips on the interstate. I truly believe you could hop in this car and drive it across the country! It has been that reliable. The only thing I have done since the above mentioned service is to install a new fuel pump a couple of weeks ago. The car gets around 20mpg in town and even better on the highway. As far as I can tell the motor has never been out of the car! It always starts right away and does not smoke. The odometer showed 56,300 miles when I purchased the car. It stopped turning at 57,000. The speedometer still functions. The flywheel is a little noisy at idle but dead silent while driving, or when you touch the clutch. When cold, it drips like a Corvair. When warm, it doesn't. The undercarriage is remarkably solid and rust free with no holes anywhere. The sills and rockers and front trunk are just as solid. There are a few small areas of rust, one at the bottom of the fender (not rocker) just behind the left front wheel (my band's sticker conceals it) and also at the bottom behind the left rear wheel. The jack, tire wrench, and spare are included. This particular car DOES NOT throw fan belts! It has never been an issue. My original plan for this car was to either strip it down and restore it (as I normally would do), or to paint it like Janis Joplin's 356. Some of the sunburned old paint appears to be original so I decided it looked cool as is and that it would be more fun to just DRIVE IT! It still amazes me the number of thumbs up and positive comments the car receives everywhere it goes. The Corsa rolls on its original 13" front wheels with original Corsa hubcaps. The rears are 1965 14" Impala wheels. The original 13" rear wheels and Corsa hubcaps are included. When I purchased the car it retained most of its original front headlamps and rear light bulbs. I replaced some of them but kept the originals and will pass them on. The car has working headlights, tail lights, license plate light, reverse light, interior light, and windshield wipers. Hold on..... I was getting to that! Yes, the AM radio works and sounds great. We have a fantastic AM Oldies station in our area that really takes you back in time while behind the wheel of the Corvair :-) Give me a call to discuss the car and any offers: (772) 285-1460 TERMS: $500 deposit via PayPal 24 hours of auction close.
