Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1969 Alfa Romeo Berlina 1750 There are few Italian cars left on the road today that were built in the 1960’s, especially for sale at under $10,000. Factor in twin cams, spica fuel injection system, 5 speed, independent suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes, plus the fun to drive factor and this car represents a great investment. I bought this car 2 years ago from the original owner who purchased it new. I had every intention of making it my daily driver but my plans have changed-and here it sits. It is factory original, including the SPICA mechanical fuel injection system. The Alfa Romeo website, berlinaregister.com says this about these cars: “The 105 series Berlina (Italian for "sedan") was introduced by Alfa Romeo in 1967, and remained in production until 1976. The Berlina was an updated and slightly enlarged version of the Giulia sedan, which had been introduced in 1962. The Berlina is a four-door sedan, seats five, has a 1779cc or 1962cc four-cylinder twin-cam aluminum engine in front, a five-speed manual transmission or (in a few cases) three-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, independent front suspension, live axle rear suspension, and a unit steel body.” This rare 1969 Alfa Romeo Berlina 1750 has been sitting most of the time in the past 2 years. I recently put a new battery in it, added some clean gas and it fired right up. I last had it on a freeway 2 years ago and it purred at 65 MPH, but I have driven it only few miles since. It does runs and drives great and since it is an early Alfa, it is also appealing to the eye. I listed this and 4 other cars back in February of this year and all the others sold, but this one did not because I believe I set an unrealistic reserve on it. I was pleasantly surprised to see my listing on Yahoo, shortly after listing it. Here is the link: http://autos.yahoo.com/news/auction-car-week-1969-alfa-romeo-1750-berlina-163040652.html After relocating to Dallas, the owner put A/C in the car and had it resprayed. The A/C has been disconnected-it is non-operative. He also rebuilt the engine, but I do not have the paperwork for the rebuild, so bid as though you'll eventually have to do a rebuild. When I purchased it, I had la mechanic look it over. He did some work on the original SPICA fuel injector system and said that it had been very well kept and tuned properly. The car has travelled a total of 159k miles since new. The original owner told me that it had never been in an accident. It is being sold without warrantee and since it is 45 years old, it is sold absolutely "as is." Please see my feedback and do your due-diligence before bidding. There are flaws that you need to be aware of; I have carefully photographed the car so see attached photos. When I drove it home from the mechanics shop, the rear brake lights remained on when the car was stopped. He told me to pull a wire under the hood and that fixed it, but I have not replaced that wire. One of the photos shows underneath the rear of the car. Berlina truck seals tended to leak over time. Although fine now (new seals when resprayed), you can see that rust has formed under the spare tire. I see no urgent need to immediately in replacing the tire pan, but you need to be aware of it. The front jack points are missing-the are does not appear to be rusted. No rust around windows or doors. Two other photos shows splitting of the upholstery in the rear seat and on the dash. The driver’s seat also has a small split. The dash has a crack in it. The seatbelt harnesses are absolutely amazing and it’s hard to believe people buckled in like that in 1969! This car needs someone who knows auto mechanics-I do not. You will need to spend a weekend sorting out some of the things like the brake lights. Please ask any and all questions before bidding. If you are new to eBay and have no feedback, please email me before bidding. I reserve the right to cancel any bids, or to sell this item before the listing ends. I will assist in loading the car for transportation. A $1,000 overnight cashiers check or PayPal deposit is expected within 48 hours of the close of this auction. Upon receipt, deposit and clearance of the remainder, I will then mail the clear title to you. Documentation will be sent to you after sale is completed and keys will be given to your transport company. The car must leave my warehouse within 14 days of sale. Good luck, enjoy and thanks for looking!
