My phone number is embedded below. Here we have a very original F code 1964.5 Mustang Convertible up for offer. The Pony has never been restored. Below you will get an accurate description to the best of my ability. Please read my feedback as you will see, I’ve sold cars before with not one complaint. Mustang people will say “Well how does he know it’s a true 1964.5 Mustang?” This is how I know - http://www.mustangandfords.com/news/mustang-1964/ . It has every single trait described in the link. From the vented radiator support behind the battery, the brake light switch on the master cylinder, the 2 large horns on the inside of the engine bay (65’s were installed on the outside of the radiator support) and the list goes on. IT IS a real 1964.5 F code V8 with a manual transmission which has its matching number motor, trans and rear and to boot 86,000 original miles. Yes….Original miles.I have copies of the title, VINS on the car and original Owners warranty Card if anyone needs a copy of them. The Mustang starts on the first try, drives down the highway straight as an arrow and stops on a dime with no pulling, however there is one brake cylinder on the rear which is sticky and wants to lock up if you push the brake hard. The new owner should plan on going through all of the brakes. There is no smoke or leaks beneath the car. Very good entry level car or nice foundation. The car really just needs freshened up. I was considering putting new paint and new bumpers for the Mustang prior to selling it, but thought it would be better to be seen in the natural condition I acquired it, to prevent anyone thinking its full of mud. This Mustang would look incredible with fresh black paint, new chrome and a set of Magnum 500’s. The body – -The body is straight with no patch panels or bondo. All original quarters, fenders and doors, no door sag and everything lines up decent. -Battery tray is rusted (frame beneath is not). Comes with new battery tray and hardware. -The glass in the car is decent driver quality with no cracks or fogging. The back plastic window is cloudy. -The convertible top is in good condition, but again the back plastic rear is cloudy. The power top does not work. It doesn’t even try. No noise. I believe it to be a fuse or a bad ground. The pump and all associated pieces appear to be intact and visible from the trunk. - The chrome on the car is poor. For the "Best offer" winning offer I will provide for FREE., 1) New Front and rear bumpers, 4 New front and rear bumperettes (verticle small bumpers) 2) New tail light bezels 3) New Convertible boot snap down trim (hockey sticks)4) New Battery Tray -The paint is very poor and the car needs a paint job. The body is flat. Minor surface rust on the body here and there but nothing bad and you have to hunt for it. There are 2 areas on the floor pans about 16” x 3” on both sides of the car which will need patched or replaced. Rockers are fine. Drivers torque box is bad but passenger side is good. The floors everywhere else are solid except the 2 areas and the one torque box. BUT – You will be replacing carpet so while the carpet is out, this would be the time to do it. -All front and rear and mid frame is in good shape. No rust. -All window fuzzys need replaced (while getting painted) -The trunk drop downs are solid as is the entire truck. No evidence of patch panels or bondo. -I have no idea why it has 2 small boat cleats on the back. Take them off, fill and paint. Drive train – The F code 260 V8 starts up effortlessly and sounds great. It’s so quiet and runs great. It pushes the Mustang down the road with ease. It has great acceleration, no noises, smoke or leaks on the ground. I’ve driven 289 and 302 cubic inch Fords which didn’t have the acceleration this has.New fuel tank, new radiator hoses, belt and battery. The manual transmission shifts great. Smooth and no sync issues. Suspension- There is no pulling or rattling when accelerating, cruising or stopping. Maybe something in the trunk. But hard to hear.As mentioned, the brakes work and stop the car, but I wouldn’t trust them on a long drive. They need gone through and wheel cylinders replaced and maybe pads. Drum brakes.Shocks were replaced at some point. It doesn’t float or squeak.$500 worth of new tires. As in this new, not used. With less then 50 miles on them. Interior – -The convertible top is in good shape inside and out. Back plastic is fogged. -The front and rear seats are decent with a small rip on drivers side. -The 86 year old previous owner was 6’3”. The driver’s seat leans back to far. I’m not sure if something came unhooked or broke. It’s still functional but leans back a little further then the passenger seat. - The dash near perfect as are the gauges. Everything works except the horn. The from the AM radio to the windshield wipers to the defroster and heater. -The door panels are in great condition as are the tops of the doors and the bottom door lips. -The carpet faded and needs replaced. - Factory radio is in the uncut dash.
