Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a VERY RARE, Saxon Yellow, 304 V8, factory 4 speed, 1979 AMX. This car was parked by the original owner around 1996. I purchased it from an AMC collector who had it for several years but never got around to restoring it. Only 3,657 AMX's were built in 1979, and only 1,834 came with the 304 cubic inch V8, and even fewer came with the combination of V8 and 4 speed. 1979 was the last year for the V8 and the only year that a V8 and 4 speed could be combined on the later AMXs The combination of factory Saxon Yellow and V8, 4 speed makes this an exceedingly rare car. It has all of it's individual AMX pieces, wheels, lug nuts, center caps, aluminum dash overlay, steering wheel, console gauge pod, etc. The only thing missing is the front spoiler. But a few of us are having that spoiler reproduced. I've been told that new front spoilers will be made in 8-10 weeks at a cost of about $250. Car also has OEM Gabriel Rider adjustable shocks. Not sure if those are the factory ones or not, but they had undercoating sprayed on them, which makes me think that they are. The car has a metric speedo with 52K kilometers on. I converted that to miles for the auction info. I have no way to know the accuracy of the mileage. This car's floors, rockers and frame rails are amazingly rust free as I show in the pictures. I cut the carpet out of the driver's side footwell because it was in bad shape, but this allows you to see the floor. The only rust through on the car is a 2"-3" hole on the passenger door. The car runs and drives, motor is strong, clutch and transmission shift smoothly, but car should be considered a project. It still requires some TLC. Hoses and belts might be original so should be replaced. Tires are of unknown age, but fronts have "like new" tread. It will need an exhaust. The tilt steering column will need some work and it will require a new ignition cylinder lock. The lower dash where the hood release cable attaches is cracked/broken and the tach and fuel gauge don't work. The hatch release solenoid isn't working, so I rigged a manual way to pop the hatch. I haven't driven this car much farther than 10 miles from my house or on the highway. It's old and in need of TLC, so if you win it, bring a trailer. Yes, it runs and drives, but don't be foolish with your safety. $500 deposit due 24 hours after auction on paypal. The remainder cash, wire transfer, or bank check within 7 days. Car will not be released until funds clear my bank. I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have it listed for sale elasewhere.
