Vehicle Detail
1966 Ford Mustang Please read it all before emailing or calling me. My phone number is embedded below. Here we have a very original T code Mustang Coupe up for offer. The Pony was restored about 6 years ago and underwent a substantial restoration with many new components and body parts. Below you will get an accurate description to the best of my ability. Please read my feedback as you will see, I’ve sold cars before with not one complaint. The Mustang starts on the first try, drives down the highway straight as an arrow and stops on a dime with no pulling. There is no smoke or leaks beneath the car. Very good entry level car or nice foundation to start adding your GT components (Red GT vinyl stripes down the hood and trunk and lower sides with some 15” Magnum 500 rims, GT hood scoop and GT chin spoiler) Can you see it?? Yeah….. I can. The body – -The body has new rear quarters, new front fenders and new door skins, as well as new rear frame rails. It really is a solid car. The doors do not have any sag and shut solid. The drives door window needs a little assistance going down and believe it to be a plastic guide as the cause. Sometimes it goes down easy other times in needs some help. -Rear passenger window knob is missing. The glass in the car is decent driver quality with no cracks or fogging. - The chrome on the car is better than driver quality but not quite show quality. The front bumper has a small kink in it, dead center elevating it slightly in the middle. A new front bumper is $149. The rear bumper is solid but shows slight fade. Again $149. Or leave them alone, they’re not that bad. -The paint is very shiny and smooth. No runs or orange peel. The body is flat. There was a lot of block sanding to make this car flat and smooth. However, there are about a half dozen Knicks and chips, a few small crazing cracks in the paint and 2 bubbles. You will have to hunt for them. Nothing excessive. BUT – the paint is glossy and really pops and turns heads. It’s just not show quality because it is driven and cruised about in. After all, that’s what they are for, right? To drive. -All weather seals and door fuzzys all appear to be in good decent condition. -The floor pans and frame work beneath the car are really solid. No rust holes or ugly patch work. The front drivers frame rail all the way in the front has some minor rust but has been encapsulated. It poses no threat to the structural integrity to the car. As a matter of fact, nothing would need done to it for 5-10 yrs and even then it’s a simple remove and replace $49 piece. Other than that, a very clean body, with solid rockers, solid trunk (trunk does show few small patches) solid trunk drop downs and wheel wells. Drive train – The 6 cylinder 200 starts up effortlessly and sounds great. It pushes the Mustang down the road with ease. It has great acceleration, no noises, smoke or leaks on the ground. Minor seepage on the block but no drips. The motor and trans were rebuilt about 10k miles ago. I’ve driven 289 cubic inch Fords which didn’t have the acceleration this 6 cylinder has.New fuel lines and exhaust. The automatic transmission replaced the original 3 speed manual trans and shifts fine. Many new components on the engine, battery, solenoid, alternator, etc. Something pulls the battery down after about 2 weeks. So I just unhook the hot cable from the battery when it sits. This should be an easy fix should you want to address it. I don’t even tighten the battery terminal. I just shove it on and pull it off. Suspension- The entire suspension has been gone through at some point. There is no pulling or rattling when accelerating, cruising or stopping. It has new brake cylinders and pads all the way around. The car has no power steering or power brakes, although is very very easy to drive.Shocks were replaced about 3 yrs ago and have about 2000 miles on them. Interior – -The headliner is perfect. -The front and rear seats are great. - The dash is solid but has a few ripples. Nothing unbearable. - All gauges work and are in great shape. The horn works. -The door panels are in great over all condition as are the tops of the doors and the bottom door lips. -The carpet is 3 years old but was cut a little short at the shifter. You could make a little black trim plate from plastic or rubber and screw the shifter bezel down on top of it. I certainly wouldn’t replace the carpet because of it. It’s in pretty good shape. - Factory radio is in the uncut dash. CD/Stereo/ Ipod in the glove box If you’d like to discuss the Mustang in more detail you can call me at 443-496-0701.
