Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1963 Corvette Split Window coupe. This car has an excellent history and is a perfect fit for your collection. Factory Details First let's go over the factory details of the car. This Corvette comes with the highest horsepower carburated engine factory option, the 340 horsepower, 327 cubic inch V8. The only engine available at the time that was stronger was the fuel injected "Fuelie" V8 which are fetching well over 6 figures. Options on the car: Option Codes M20 4 speed manual transmission J50 Power Brakes L76 340HP engine U69 AM-FM Radio G81 Positraction Rear Axle This car is a late '63 model so it has metal headlight buckets and nylon slide catches on the fuel filler door. Current Condition As for it's current condition. The body is completely straight. There is no damage on the car and there is no rust and never has been. The frame and birdcage have been restored, as has the engine bay. The engine itself was rebuilt less than 2000 miles ago. The rest of the car is original and in great condition. The car has roughly 88k miles on the odometer which are believed to have been rolled over once, although not verified. I would actually believe they could be actual miles based on the cars condition, but I don't know that for sure. All of the gauges, pop up headlights and clock work. The interior is original with the exception of the shift knob that has been upgraded to a Hurst shifter. There are no rips or tears in the interior. The car has a professional older repaint (originally #916 Daytona Blue) but still in excellent condition. That said, it does have two small bubbles in the rear near the Sting Ray logo and the inside door jam is starting to show some age. However I would take it to any car show, any day. The exterior chrome is in great condition. It is bright and shiny but does show some light patina in some areas. The car is currently showing newer Corvette center caps, but I do have all of the original hubcaps, which are in great condition. The tires are new and showing almost no wear. Has a new Optima plasma battery. History I purchased this car from a wealthy man in Atlanta who had several collectible Corvettes. He was the second owner of this car and it has been in his family since 1971. During that time, he had the frame and birdcage restored as well as the engine built. As I mentioned earlier, the interior is original to the car. I've owned the car since May of last year and it has remained in a climate controlled garage. I've put just under 200 miles on it in the time that I've owned it. In addition to the long family history, the car was stored in a climate controlled garage, always properly maintained and I'm told had only been in the rain once in those 40+ years. Current Values Based on Hagerty ratings, I would rate this car between a 2 and a 3. Hagerty currently lists a rating 3 at $78,000.00 and a rating 2 at $120,000.00 for this particular car and engine combination. Based on those estimates, I would rate this cars value around $95,000.00. NADA rates this car, average retail price, at $97,500.00. The reserve is set well below these ranges. If you haven't checked the values on these cars, please do so. They have spiked since January of this year and continue to increase. There is no reason why this car won't be worth 150k in the next year or so. Currently on Ebay I've seen a lot of the lower horsepower engine 1963 Corvettes or cars that are incomplete, with the occasional "Fuelie" here and there. I don't see 340hp Split Windows that often, especially in this condition, so don't let this one pass you by. On Jun-27-14 at 14:40:30 PDT, seller added the following information: I've recently been asked about the fitment of the hood, which appears to be high in one of the pictures. I've since looked it over and don't see anything unusual. I'm assuming that when the engine was rebuilt that they either didn't align the hood properly or they used the incorrect sized hood shims. Either way, I plan to order replacement shims to fix the issue in the next few days. This should properly realign the hood and correct the fitment.
