Vehicle Detail
68 Camaro RS/SS / 396 / Tremec 5 speed / 12 bolt posi. 5000 miles on motor and trans. Motor and trans are not original. Car color is cordovan maroon metallic, with white vinyl top and SS stripe, the way you see it is the way it was sold in 1968. Black and yellow plates. Powder coated sub-frame- radiator core support-A-arms-spindles-wheel wells and various brackets. Factory air, power steering, power front disk brakes, power windows, after market hide away light conversion from vacuum to electric. New tires and 15/8 ralleys. New yellow top Optima deep cycle battery, remote door locks Hounds tooth interior with RS/SS console gauges, tic-toc-tach, GT wood grain steering wheel. I have the original SS steering wheel. I can e-mail you more pics. The car is advertised locally and I reserve the right to remove my add. On Jul-16-14 at 00:19:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 I have a complete set of pics, 360 view of exterior, every angle of interior, and underneath the car. Contact me and I will send them to you. After all the questions I'm receiving I have revised my description to include questions that were asked and a more detailed history of the car. Thank you. I own the black and yellow plates. If sold in Calif. I will sign over the plates, if sold outside Calif I will keep the plates, you would have to surrender them anyways. I bought the car on E-Bay in 2006 out of Las Vegas. The guy I got it from showed me pictures of the car before he re-painted it, installed new deluxe hounds tooth interior, new vinyl top and new PPG glass through out. The color scheme was the same as now, except faded paint, engine compartment, worn out interior and pealing vinyl top. He did nothing else to the car….That’s where I came in. When I got it there was a tired 402 and a Muncie M-21 behind it, roll up windows, the vacuum hide away lites did not work properly, the Tic-Toc-Tach did not work, the suspension was shot and the A/C did not work. Other than that…the car was beautiful. The 402 was not original. I pulled the front end clip off, pulled the motor and trans, suspension, sub-frame and every thing off the fire wall. I had the sub-frame, upper and lower control arms, radiator support, wheel wells, clutch arm, motor mount perches, drag link, spindles, caliper brackets and various brackets sand blasted and power coated. In my photos, if you see things gloss black or what they call “near chrome” (silver) their powder coated. I painted the fire wall the same color as the car from the stock black. Every thing I put back was new, ball joints, bushings, 1 1/8 front sway bar, coils, shocks, calipers and brakes. I bought a rebuilt stock 396 off E-Bay out of Phoenix (thanks Daryl), I installed a new starter, Holley 600 carb, water pump, flex fan, chrome power steering pump, chrome alternator, billet HEI distributor, accell wires and I used the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds with the stock exhaust pipes and 2 in and 2 out new muffler. The car is not that loud. I installed a new TKO 650 5 speed transmission kit including new driveline, new clutch and surfaced the flywheel. I replaced the A/C system, new suit case on the fire wall, evaporator, expansion valve, POA update valve, compressor, condenser and hoses. They gave me a new receiver dryer which I did not use because it did not fit, so I used the old one. The A/C works but it does not blow that cold…I suspect the receiver dryer is the problem. I installed an after market conversion kit for the hide away lights. From vacuum to electric…they work great. I installed an after market power window kit, regulators with motors, switches and harnesses…gota love power windows. I recently installed a high lighted grill. I replaced the Tic-Toc-Tach with a new one… clock keeps good time. I bought new 15x8 rally’s with new trim rings and derby caps along with new tires. I installed a remote keyless entry and have 2 sets of keys with two key fobs. I changed the stock SS steering wheel with a new GT Grant wood grain wheel that almost matches the color of the car. I installed an Optima yellow top deep cycle battery. The stock wheel will go with the car along with a nice Wolf car cover, a directional distributor cap and a new set of Accell wires to hook it up. This is a nice car, between what I did and the guy I got it from did, all the hard work is done, and it should have every thing you would want in a nice Camaro. Other than the crappy cassette stereo, and the receiver dryer for the A/C to blow as cold as it should…it needs nothing.I have almost 39 grand invested in this car, not including labor which we don’t get paid for any ways. My reserve is WAY below that. My loss could be your gain. Thanks for looking.
