Vehicle Detail

1999 BMW F650 Funduro- Good for mechanically-inclined. (Currently will turn over but not start- been sitting a couple of years.) PLEASE READ WHOLE AD BEFORE BIDDING!(I know it's a lot. Sorry.) This is the single-cylinder 650cc BMW. A good bike, but I'm moving and need to get rid of it. It's a Salvage title, and was when I bought it 11 years ago. Like all thumpers, it vibrates, but is good up to extra-legal freeway speeds, and then it hammers a bit. Comes with full-size BMW saddlebags, Clymer manual, and a lowering kit (different links for the rear suspension, shorter side and center stands). There are two seats; an aftermarket copy of the stock seat and a Corbin. I also have an air shock (no manufacturer's name on it) that turned out to have a leak (part of why it's been sitting so long). It can probably be repaired and you can have a shock that might be better than what's there. Battery is new. Oil is fresh. Registration is current. I just paid it ($81) 7/6. KNOWN ISSUES: Will turn over but not start, but that may change.SALVAGE TITLE: It apparently was in an accident, and there are some scratches in the paint and saddlebag racks. There is also a crack in the plastic mount for the instruments that makes the instrument panel a bit asymmetrical, but doesn't affect the way it rides.Like I said: thumpers vibrate, so there are some cracks in the plastic around the mounting screws. They don't affect the way it runs. The screws holding the radiator fan vibrated off and got replaced with zip ties (which you can replace if you want to). The oil drain plug on the bottom stripped the threads in the case and I replaced it with a BMW part: 15 11 11 2 343 436 SET: REPAIR KIT, OIL DRAIN PLUG0.11 1 $106.92which screwed in and cut new threads in the case (the only change being it takes a smaller wrench to loosen the new plug). Headlight is high-beam only right now. Also, the wires shorted out a while after I bought it and melted the connector. I re-wired it to work, since the dealership wanted to sell me a whole new harness. If I remember correctly, I finally sourced a connector from somewhere else. (Pro Tip- BMW doesn't make all their own parts; they get them from the same people who supply them to other auto and motorcycle makers. With a little Internet searching you can often find bits and pieces at a fraction of what the dealer charges.)Seat lock- None. The key would only go in part way, and no amount of oil, graphite, or finesse would get it in, so I removed it. The seat will latch and a screwdriver will unlatch it. Fix it if you like.
