Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1961 Chevy Corvair Custom Flat Bed Truck that was donated to the AACA Museum in Hershey Pennsylvania in 2007. The truck has not been driven on a regular basis being a display vehicle, so it will need to be checked over prior to being put into any type of regular service. It was driven around the museum property and runs good, shifts, and stops without any major difficulties. Prior to its being donated we were informed that the truck had a calliope of some sort on it run by a generator. The generator (no longer on the truck) was run off of the spare fuel tank located on the passengers side of the truck and the fuel tank is now disconnected. A few years prior to the donation the truck received a paint job and the custom flatbed was constructed. The truck runs smooth and starts easy due to an electric fuel pump that is located under the bed. The carburetors were disassembled and cleaned and the entire fuel system was visually inspected for any problems. The brake system was also inspected and seemed to be fine. The paint is good- it was an amateur paint job when it was done but it does shine and look good. The chrome is in good condition and shines nicely along with the other trim on the truck. The tires are older bias-ply and the truck has wheels on it from an 1980's Monte Carlo or similar. The wood on the box needs to be refinished but isn't warped or cracked. The interior is very nice with a black vinyl seat and door panels and accented with silver painted trim. The carpet is very nice and also the headliner is clean and appears to have been replaced. The undercarriage is in good condition with two pea size rust holes that are shown in the pictures in the listing. Other then that the truck is very solid. It is recommended that the winning bidder carefully go over the truck before recommissioning it to the road. The vehicle is being sold as/is and the payment must clear prior to the vehicle leaving the museum. On Jul-14-14 at 14:14:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Please remember that if you are playing by check the check MUST clear prior to the vehicle leaving the museum.
