Vehicle Detail

PROJECT BIKE- NEEDS GOOD HOME'87 Cagiva 650 Alazzura. 34k miles. This is from when Cagiva owned Ducati, so it is a Ducati Pantah engine, a Ducati-designed frame, and Cagiva to praise or blame for the rest. My BMW was the wife and this was the mistress- wild and crazy and fun but expensive, finicky, and a bit needy. It was retired to the garage about 10-15 years ago because one of the guys at GP Motorcycles said the noise it was making might be the main bearing (expensive fix). If you think you'll get this cheap, fix it up for a couple of hundred bucks, and buzz around on Italian iron- THINK AGAIN! You'll have to go over it stem to stern to put it into riding shape again, so only even THINK about buying this if you want a long-term project for your retirement, you're a custom builder wanting to turn this into a showpiece to show what you can do, or you REALLY like to work on carbs and tune Desmo engines. I am really serious about this; I don't want to see someone high-side this bike because they DIDN'T heed this warning. It would be a waste of a good bike. Includes photocopied shop manual.PRO TIP: It looks like at least some of the electrics on this are Bosch knock-offs.On Jul-04-14 at 17:28:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Since bidding is getting higher, I want to emphasize: THIS IS A NON-RUNNING BIKE. NON-RUNNING!To get it running you will need:GasBatteryNew tiresOil changeEngine overhaulFront fork overhaulCarburettor (remember those?) overhaulAnd so much more!If you think you'll get it home and just start it up with a little gas like you heard this one guy do on the Internet with this sweet bike he got cheap and turned around... NOPE!Take it to a dealer? They'll love you! Have $3000 (minimum) ready for them, though, or they won't touch it (it will help them put a down payment on that beach house, though). I'm trying to save both of us headaches. You because you'll have a bike you can't use, and me from having someone who got bidding fever and then can't/won't pay. Okay, maybe I'm getting a little paranoid, but I would like a nice, simple transaction unlike that semi-collectible thing for which I am STILL awaiting payment 3 weeks later. -End of rant- And thanks to everyone who bids and shows an interest. I really would like to see this bike get a good home.
