Vehicle Detail
This original 1967 CB450D with scrambler conversion kit was found at an estate sale in the dry and arid climate of Eastern Oregon. This is an original from the day D kitted scrambler. This bike has NOT been pieced together using acquired D kit parts. There are a few flaws here and there from its days of use as an off road machine, but overall the bike is in amazing condition with a light petina for its age. The bike starts easy, runs and rides well, and appears that the very low miles shown on the speedo may be correct. I purchased this bike in 2012 from the second owner. This gentleman had owned the bike since 1975 and only riden it for a couple years before parking it. The last license plate tags expired in 1978. The bike will be sold with the clean Oregon title dated 1975 and ready for transfer to the new owner. I have performed a minor preservation by giving the bike a thorough cleaning, and service. Carbs have been cleaned and new Honda factory gasket and o-ring kits installed. Fork and motor oils have been drained and replaced. Point gaps, ignition timing, timing chain, and valve lash have all been checked and adjusted to factory specs. Cables have been lubed and adjusted. Brakes have been inspected, adjusted, and the pivot points lubed. The original air filters were too damaged and deteriorated to reuse. UNI brand foam sock air filters have been acquired but not yet installed. I've touched up the paint on some areas of the frame, tool box, swingarm, chainguard, and headlight bucket. I also stripped and repainted the sidecovers. All other parts wear their original factory paint. All of the chrome on this bike is original, and most is in beautiful condition. Nothing on the bike has been replated. Both the front and rear fenders have undersides which are nearly as clean as their tops and show zero signs of rust. The leading edge of the front fender has a small dent on one side. The rear edge of the rear fender has some scrapes. Both of these minor issues are visible in a couple of the photos. Not visible in the photos is an area on the rear fender where a battery once leaked acid and etched a small area of the chrome. This area is under the battery box and is not readily visible without some disassembly. Both head pipes and mufflers are rock solid with no signs of rust inside or out. There is one medium sized dent in the rear area of the left muffler and a pair of small cracks in the left heat shield. These are each hi-lighted with arrows in one of the photos. Both the front and rear wheels are in near perfect condition. New tires and tubes have been installed front and rear .The seat has been cleaned but left with its original petina and is still in as found condition. It has a couple small tears and one small hole in the seating area of the upholstery as shown in a couple of the photos. The steel seat pan is solid and the seat foam looks and feels to be in good condition. I purchased a new replacement seat cover and grab handle but never installed them opting instead for the petina of the original. This new cover and grab handle will be included with the bike. The fiberglass fuel tank is an aftermarket scrambler type from a long defunct company called Fibre-Mold. This model of tank was made specifically for the CB450 Black Bomber and mounts exactly like the original. It has never been painted and still wears its original black gelcoat exterior. The interior has been professionally cleaned and sealed using Caswell epoxy fuel tank sealer to be compatible with today's modern fuels. A new OEM type fuel tap assembly has been fitted to the tank. All electrical components work and function as they should. The charging system functions well, the horn honks, the lights all work correctly, and the ignition switch operates smoothly and positively through all positions. I replaced the worn starter clutch rollers, springs, and pins with new OEM Honda parts and the starter now works fine. The tach, speedo, and odometer each function smoothly and read accurately. New and replaced items are listed below. If it is not listed below, it is safe to assume it is original and in good condition.Front tire and tubeRear tire and tubeBatterySpark plugsUNI air filtersForward footpeg rubbersFront brake cableCarburetor gasket and seal kitsFuel tap assemblyLeft footpeg assemblyStarter clutch rollers and pins I can help with with transportation to Forward Air or other transport carrier terminals shipping from Portland, Oregon and may be able to crate the bike for an additional fee. But buyer is responsible for arrangement of all transportation, shipping, and associated fees. I believe I have covered all aspects of this bike and its condition, but please ask any questions you might have. I will do my best to answer all questions promptly and thoroughly. On Jun-26-14 at 22:28:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Added on 6/26/2014 at 10:25 PM I have been asked by some of you about the original D kit fuel tank and if it is available with the bike. Unfortunately the previous owner sold or gave away the original D tank many years before I purchased the bike. The only tank I have for this bike is already on it. Thanks. Caferacingparts
