Vehicle Detail

1979 Fiat 124 Spider, 2000cc, 2-Barrel Weber, 52,720 miles, about 60% factory original paint - 52,720 mileage guaranteed correct.- Car also comes with my Colorado 2005 purchase receipt showing 34,413 genuine miles.- Excellent history including the 1979 window sticker and invoice.- Paint is over 60% original Fiat, still has 1979 dealer-fitted "Sport Stripes."- Dry state car its entire life (Nebraska, Colorado and California), no rust.- No accidents I know of. Frame is straight, car drives well.- Working AC, installed from new, just serviced. Converted to electric fuel pump.- Four new brake calipers fitted one year ago.- Full beige tonneau (period aftermarket) & factory half tonneau which matches the interior- Fiat Cromodora"Iron Cross" wheels, polished, correct for year- California title clear and in my name I do recommend you come and see the car yourself, or at least have it professionally inspected. I will cooperate in that. History:I am the third owner of this Fiat 124 Convertible and have owned it since 2005. I bought it in Colorado at 34,413 miles and drove it home to California. I believe the second owner, in Colorado, bought it from the original owner in Nebraska at about 22, 376 miles in early 1999. As you can see, the car looks like it's low mileage. It also drives like it: solid, direct, straight, tight, no shakes or rattles, very responsive. As a 1970s Fiat sports car the engine and transmission are far from quiet, of course, but under load they sound good. This 124 Spider still has quite a lot of original factory paint remaining, which is not usual. It also has the original 1979 dealer "Sport Stripes," which I've never seen on any other Spider. To my knowledge, the only areas that have been repainted are the two front fenders, and the right back fender. There are minor marks here and there on the paint, and a little touch-up, but nothing very noticeable. The car also has a chrome badge from the original selling dealer in North Platte, Nebraska, mounted over the back left light cluster—quite a nice little period piece which I've retained. It also comes with a small box of spares. Service & Repairs:In addition to regular maintenance, major work on the car (all professionally done) includes: Dec 2005 Removed and replaced cylinder head, new CH gasket, new valve seals, timing belt and roller, v- belts and starter motorMarch 2009 New Pioneer radio/CD/MP3 player & speakers*, replaced seat belts*, resealed transmissionJuly 2009 Replacement muffler, rear and center, and catalytic convertorAug 2012 Replaced oil pan gasket, brake hoses, new batteryMay 2011 New brake master cylinder and heater coreMarch 2011 Four new tiresApril 2013 New ignition switchJune 2013 New brake calipers (2 front, 2 rear), and padsJune 2014 Installed AC retro kit, R12 to R134, changed spark plugs and tuned *Originals available From new, the car had an after market cruise control fitted. I removed it because it's not something I'd really use. I also replaced the steel wheels with year-correct Fiat Cromodora "Iron Cross" rims. I had these highly polished, and did not apply sealant so they would be easy to re-polish. The spare is also polished Iron Cross, and this is unused and does not need a republish. The car comes with the original manual, jack, tool box and Fiat tools, but a few of the tools are missing. It has fairly complete service records from the dealer PDI at 35 miles on 8.10.79. Current needs: Please note that this is an original car, not a perfect car. If you want perfect, you should really look a 100-point restoration. There are small marks here and there on the paint and in the interior, a little wear on the chrome, and some signs of use. That, to me, is this Spider's charm. Here are some things I see that need doing: - Rear window of convertible top is cracked and misty, needs replacing. Top itself is OK.- Two wheels show small rim marks. Wheels should be repolished, and bolts painted or replaced with chrome bolts. The spare is good.- The wheel center badges are slightly yellowed, should be replaced.- Face of clock in dash is misty, clock should be replaced.- Side Pininfarina badges are worn, should be replaced- There is one small mark on the driver's seat, and a couple of very small cracks on the center console.- The original rubber floor mat on the driver's side has some tears that have been repaired. Ideally the mat should be replaced.- Engine compartment is pretty good, but could be detailed to a higher standard. NOTE: If the car stays in California, I will provide a valid smog certificate. Payment & Shipping:I require a $500 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of the auction end, the balance payable within 7 days by cash, cashier's check or wire transfer. Buyer to organize and pay for all shipping. I will assist in pick-up on the vehicle. I will cooperate in shipping internationally, but the buyer is responsible for selecting the shipper, organizing pick-up, dealing with customs, import duties, etc.
