Vehicle Detail

This listing is for our 1950 Chev pickup truck. We bought it earlier this year to restore and drive, after much work has been done we've decided we'd rather have something with a back seat for grandkids, so have decided to sell this one. Work done: Sandblast work - rear frame rails with box removed, all four fenders, running boards, inner front fenders, floor of cab both underside and topside. Balance of paint was sanded off. Frame was painted using epoxy primer and satin black paint. Previous owner said he had done brakes and clutch and converted it to 12 volt. I had new windshield glass (both sides) and new gasket installed. All glass is good. Truck was painted with tinted epoxy primer to simulate an old looking original style vehicle, so it's a dull matte finish. Any needed body work was also completed and if a new owner wanted to paint it, all that would need to be done is the glazing/block sanding/priming steps. I had it brought up to the current level in case I decided later to have it painted. The engine and front frame area was also cleaned and painted. New rear engine mounts were installed. All new clear pine wood with many coats of UV-resistant spar poly was installed in the bed floor, along with new metal strips. Interior has new seat covers, reproduction original-style floor mat, and new headliner installed. I bought a beautiful box from a restored CA truck that somebody was customizing and installed it instead of working over the original one so the sides are nice and straight. New reproduction chrome bumpers were installed. Wheels are 15" original style wheels with decent wide whitewalls. New glove box installed. New exterior door handles were installed. Most weather stripping was replaced. New side window channel was installed. Body and frame were exceptionally solid when sandblasting was completed, the few dents that it had were repaired prior to the current tinted primer being applied. Headlights, tail lights, brake lights all work. There is a small patch over one floor area on the passenger side but from the bottom it looks like a hole was punched, it doesn't look like a rust hole to me. I didn't have anything done with that area as the patch looks great and the floor mat covers it anyway. The vintage-style Pepsi signs can be readily removed, I just happen to like the looks of them. I also built the new bed rails with clear pine and the same poly treatment as the bed flooring received. Work remaining: I haven't road-tested it other than driving it around the parking lot where it's stored so there may be some remaining "bugs" to work out. Brakes feel ok, previous owner said he had rebuilt them, but I know the emergency brake cables are not connected so that would have to be done (two new ones are included). I haven't checked out any of the gages. The engine does smoke a bit at times when running, I suspect it's from sitting for a long time but it didn't bother me because I had planned to use it as is this season and put a small V-8 in it over next winter, but thoughts change! I know that after all of this work, I haven't put more than 1,000 feet in distance and 15 minutes of running time on it! I suspect that it would run much better if it was actually used a bit, standing for long periods of time isn't good for old vehicles. But, as I stated earlier, we decided we want to get a collector car right away with a back seat to use this summer instead. I can store it for up to 30 days for a new owner, after that I'm not renting the garage space any longer. I encourage personal inspection if that's possible, I want somebody to really like this neat old truck and know what they would be buying. Just let me know - I may be out of town for a couple of days this week but can work around that. Any check must clear the bank before the truck can leave. The title is a clear title in the past owner's name, I had planned to transfer it when I was ready to license and use it. I don't know how many actual miles are on it but eBay requires a number so I just stuck something in. On Jun-26-14 at 12:42:51 PDT, seller added the following information: I went down to where the truck is stored the other day, drove it around the parking lot some more, it didn't appear to be smoking at all, so who knows. I also checked the compression - it appears to be consistent between cylinders at 115. If you need a shipping quote, you could try a company in our area that I've used before, they've been dependable and affordable. Their name is Norm Gensmer Trucking, phone is 763-389-3848. They're a small company and have seemed to really try hard to please.
