Vehicle Detail
1982 240D Diesel Mercedes 123 body Runs well and in very good condition. 2nd Owner Car Car was originally purchased in Germany (MB buy a car and tour Europe package ) then MB shipped the car to California where it stayed till 2007 I then moved it north to Portland Oregon. Car is very dependable and runs great. Strong engine, low miles about 120k. Good compression. Driven every now and then for pleasure to keep it in shape. 4 speed transmission with good clutch. Cloth interior 1982 good. See pics - I believe the cloth interior was only available in Europe. Body is in great shape with only one rust spot lower left rear window trim -about the size of a pea - common area. See pics for body condition. Manual moon roof that is in great shape, works well with no leaks. This is a Grey Market Vehicle - Never had a problem with registration or insurance; I have been asked questions though. Oregon DMV physically inspected the VIN, and my insurance wanted a copy of the title for proof. VIN 12312010336467 Mercedes has often sold their cars for quite a bit more than their European prices, and they have also withheld some of their higher performance models, with the belief that they are not suitable for use in the lower-speed US market. For both of those reasons, for quite a while there was a thriving market for people who would buy cars in Europe, ship them to the US, and modify them to comply with US emissions requirements. The resulting cars are called "Grey Market" cars and can often be identified by European-style headlights (flat instead of round) and non-regulation bumpers (short and compact instead of long).
