Vehicle Detail

I have owned this car since July, 1990. When I purchased the car, it had an amateur repaint. Soon after, I had it repainted the original equipment Thunder Gray by the world's best amateur professional painter. It is a good paint job, but not perfect! Since I purchased the car, it has been in good dry storage and driven only on dry days. The odometer currently shows 67,508 miles. To the best of my knowledge, this is accurate. The car drives and handles well. Other than the repaint, this car is totally original. The chassis and body are in good condition with no serious rust problems. There is no rust on the body at the trunk lid lower where these models typically rust. This was an Iowa car, so it was never subjected to Michigan's salt-laden winter roads. The previous owners apparently rarely drove this car on gravel or dirt roads, as the chassis and suspension are clean and free of accumulated dirt. The interior is original, with no tears in the seats or door trim panels. The driver door armrest is worn and the front floor carpet is worn through on the passenger side as shown in the pictures (the floor pan is solid). Also, the headliner behind the front passenger sun visor has been repaired. This is shown in the pictures. The padded leather instrument panel is in very good condition, with no cracks or tears. The steering wheel is in good condition. The under hood heater fresh air duct is intact and in good condition. The engine compartment and suspension,/chassis are untouched original. There is a stone chip in the windshield (passenger side) and the driver side front vent window is cracked. The RH rear fender gravel shield is slightly broken where it meets the rocker panel moulding. The die cast grille does have some pitting. The radio does not work. The RH front bumper guard also has rust, which was painted over with argent paint by a previous owner. Since I have owned the car, I have done a complete brake job, installed a new battery, new tail pipe, new 760-15 B F Goodrich white sidewall tires, and the usual oil and filter changes. Otherwise, this car has not required any additional maintenance. While this 1949 Chrysler is not perfect, it is a good example of a well maintained 65 year-old car showing original features and minimal wear. Using the Old Cars Report Price Guide, I would rate this car between a condition two and condition three. It is a well-maintained original showing minimal wear. Shipping is the responsibility of the successful bidder.
