Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1967 Ford Custom 500 4-door. A little history on the VIN revealed that it was part of Ford's 'white sale' and so instead of cloth seats, got the 'upgrade' to vinyl interior. Making it pretty much a Galaxie 500 from the beginning. I bought this car on E-bay 7 years ago. and when I got it, it was a complete basketcase. While the mileage only goes to 5 digits, I assume the odometer has rolled over at least once. In the 7 years I've had it, I've done a lot to it. List of replaced parts includes Lunati Voodoo 61002K cam and lifter kit. E7TE mustang heads, new valve springs, new pushrods, new valve keepers Double Roller Edelbrock timing chain Keith Black 4.030 oversized pistons. Edelbrock 2121 intake manifold Edelbrock 600 carburetor Edelbrock rebuildable fuel pump Edelbrock inline fuel pressure regulator Aeroquip and Russels fuel line and fittings from pump to carburetor Melling High Volume oil pump. new oil pump pickup 2100 miles on new brake shoes front and back. new master cylinder (1 year on vehicle) new water pump (2 years on vehicle) new alternator (1 year on vehicle) Centerforce clutch. RAM clutch pressure plate. Aftermarket aluminum rims with proper backspacing to replace the rusted out, falling apart, steel rims Oh, and an aftermarket radio, mounted underneath the dashboard, because the stock radio, while still in the dash, doesn't work worth a damn. That's the good news, the bad news is there is no trunk. None. Years of neglect made what was left of it unsalvagable. I welded in new supports for the fuel tank. and placed a steel 'pan' where the trunk used to be to retain the stability, but as far as putting anything in there? The rear quarters rusted up, as is common with the Galaxies. I've welded up one side, and it's ready to be bead-blasted and fiberglassed, Rear drivers side window was hit with some kid's bb gun about 5 years back. I have SFI grade acrylic in there because there is no replacement. The windows on this one are the water-clear with no tint. If I had replaced it, I'd have had to replace all 8 windows at once. In fact, this is a lot of what drives me to part with such a beautiful cruiser. There are almost NO replacement parts. They are either no longer made, or nearly impossible to find replicated. What this vehicle could be, I cannot realize, but maybe you can! And if not, she's still a beautiful daily driver! Runs strong, shifts wonderfully through all 4 gears. Reverse, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Mileage could be much improved by removing the 3 speed toploader and replacing it with a modern 4 speed ford AOD or T-5 manual transmission. The rear axle is a WER model integral.
