Solid, rust-free 1977 Mercedes Benz 280E four-door sedan.This is a very straight, unrestored E-class W-123 body MBZ that has lived in Northern California all of its life. I am listing this old classic for an old gentleman that is retiring and selling his business. It is not my personal car. This Mercedes is a rust-free CALIFORNIA CAR. It has the very reliable 2.8L Twin-overhead cam 6 cylinder engine, which runs very well. It had been locally owned since purchased brand-new at the old Smythe European MBZ dealership in the south bay. It is a two-owner vehicle. It is completely original and unrestored. The body is extremely straight, with NO dents, creases or damage. The factory finish has faded in some areas, and will require refinishing, as silver and most metallic finishes always fade with age. The interior has held up well taking into consideration its age. Nice, clean upholstery finished in the traditional MBZ Tex-tan leatherette. Door panels and headliner are also sound and in good shape. The sunroof does not leak. All windows work fine, as well as all the lights and instruments. It will require some transmission work, as the automatic transmission will not upshift out of Low gear into high gear. It shifts to Park and Reverse fine, but for some reason it does not shift past Low when you select D and drive off. He was told that it required a new vaccum unit, but neither him nor I know about transmissions, thus we make the assumption that it requires transmission work, as it is being sold as such. Overall, an old classic Mercedes Benz, with a GREAT engine, straight body and with a very modest, low opening bid. CLEAR California title and registration is current through the end of the month.
