This is a 5th Generation Honda VFR800 Interceptor, considered by many Honda fans to be the best version of this classic motorcycle. These bikes still have the gear-driven cams (rather than chain-driven) which are longer lasting, and also give the bike a distinctive "gear whine" sound. This is also the last model before VTEC was introduced, and avoids the power-delivery problems often associated with VTEC. I've owned this motorcycle for 6 years, and it's been by far the best bike I've ever had. It provides sport-bike performance, but is still comfortable enough for all-day touring. Tires are Pirelli Angel ST's that have less than 2,000 miles on them. It's completely reliable, starts and runs perfect, and is ready to go. The bike is not in showroom-new condition, but frankly it looks great. I've taken close-ups of the few minor scratches/flaws in the bodywork. The one crack in the left side fairing was reinforced with fiberglass and is now completely solid. The few small scratches have been touched up and you really have to look hard to see them. It's not perfect - it has almost 43,000 miles, after all - but it still is one great-looking motorcycle. And, these bikes are known to be virtually bulletproof, easily running well over 150,000 miles without anything more than routine maintenance. If it's such a great bike, why am I getting rid of it, you may wonder? Well, for the 2000 year only Honda made this model in yellow, and I've always loved it. Last fall I had the chance to pick up a 2000 yellow VFR800, and I couldn't resist! I'd always planned on keeping the red one forever, but now I have to let it go. (And I've got to admit I sorta feel guilty about it!) I'm the second owner of this motorcycle; it had 19000 miles on it when I got it. I'm 63; it's never been tracked, stunted, or abused.
