Vehicle Detail

This is the one to restore. I prefer to sell to a person looking to keep all original & not hot rod. If you find bondo anywhere on this car = $500 off the price! 1958 Chevrolet Nomad wagon with 69,000 miles. Very rust free other than original paint has some here & there tucked into its patina aging. But, no holes or bubbles. Underneath floor panels are factory solid original front to back. Tailgate & lift gate/window hatch is 99% rust free also! No rain gutter rust or roof dents/dings/rust(minimal rust if any). No rust around window seals/recesses. No rust in the spare tire well (the original jacking instruction sheet is in with spare). The paint is absolutely original with age speckles (I hate that when we get old & speckles come from somewhere; thats this car talking). Stainless trims are perfect as 56 years allows (maybe one ding?). Bumpers are cleaner than would be expected with mini-rust pits/spots/flakes. Only thing on this that isn't original is the parts I just put in & tires (of course brakes replaced over the years). Almost perfect ORIGINAL headliner & visors. Note: most car enthusiasts know what is labeled rust & what is considered humidity time surface rust. True rust is where parts of the original car does not exist any longer. This car managed to keep itself in one solid piece (sometimes referred to as "a survivor"; humidity brown but no screwdriver can poke holes anywhere & magnets will STICK everywhere). Glass is all excellent with 1/4 inch BB spot one inch up from bottom of windshield. All roll-ups work flawlessly. Doors close tighter than a new car, flush as they were in 1958; no drops or rust. Runs like a clock. And, that is just with new points, rotor, & ballast resister. Still old wires, cap, coil, & no carb rebuild. Could do these later, but not needed for local cruising. New oil & cartridge filter (per last owner). Transmission seems very responsive & shift correct. Due to brakes having no fluid in master cylinder when I got it, not going very fast (brakes work after adding fluid several times & pumping up; have not been bled yet). Steering is very tight, considering age/sitting. All lights (or 99%) work. Wipers, horn, heater blower motor work. I think the radio is working, but the speaker is shot so buzzes/distorts. Dash clock does not work. Interior light works with doors & switch. Glove box light works. Gauges work. Generator & oil lights work. Oil light goes out when started since it has good oil pressure. It NEEDS A GENERATOR therefore light stays on (generator to be included if I do not repair existing one). Interior: seats need covers or re-cover; excellent springs/antique padding. Still has molded plastic/rubber one piece floor insulators. Door panels conditions are keepers in my book (if you have money to burn replacing will be done). One small ding on hood & some paint bald spots (lighter due to time). Car came out of N.C., but always garaged (not temperature controlled). Last owner had since 2000. New Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires. Call: 904-881-3495. MANY pictures available. No power steering, brakes or A/C. AS IS SALE DUE TO BRAKES NEED ATTENTION & IT HAS BEEN IN STORAGE WITH MINIMAL USAGE. On May-17-14 at 15:09:47 PDT, seller added the following information: I think the exhaust from the original exhaust manifolds back is fairly recent stainless steel. If a buyer is bent on hot rodding this car ( God forbid ) the 348 motor is worth $2500 by itself ( even if it needed rebuilding, which this one doesn't; *she's real fine, my 409's cousin ). On May-18-14 at 10:01:29 PDT, seller added the following information: I made a comment answer to a question saying, "other than the brakes, all other mechanicals most likely could make it on a Daytona from Jacksonville (1.5 hrs) drive". As mentioned in the initial description, it needs the generator replaced therefore battery may run down in that period of driving. A new or rebuilt generator is offered with the car, or a credit of $200 for someone that can rebuild existing one themselves ($30 or less rebuild kit; still get $200 credit off purchase of car).
