***Attention Honda Collectors*** 1968 Honda CL350 KO This bike will be 50 years old in four short years!Incredible! 1968: The year that changed historyIt was a year of seismic social and political change across the globe. From the burgeoning anti-Vietnam war and civil rights movements in the United States, the first year the planet Earth would be viewed from space, protests and revolutions all over the country, and man, what a year in music! The Doors, The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Goldsboro, Jimi Hendrix, Van Morrison, The Velvet Underground and others rocked the world to new highs, and lows. The world would never be the same again! Nor would the motorcycle world! The venerable Honda 750 (Four) was being produced in mass quantities prior to introduction to the world in late 1968. While that bike was in waiting, the CL350 was selling like water in the middle of a desert! And what a motorcycle it was, and still is!!! With a high revving, bullet-proof, two-cylinder, four-stroke engine, these bikes are practically indestructible and will run forever. This one is barely broken in! Historically: Up for auction is this 1968 CL350KO (1st year), 7735 miles are believed to be original. Cosmetically: The inside of the fuel tank is just as clean as the outside with no fuel leaks, no signs of tank repair, no dents, no scratches anywhere, and no signs of ever being laid over. The new Candy Antares Red paint on the gas tank, headlight bucket, side covers, and fork ears was professionally applied by Resurrections by Ray here in Mercer, Pa! This bike is ALL original to my knowledge except for the items previously mentioned and appears to have never been abused. The original seat has been professionally re-foamed using the original seat-cover-Tri-County Upholstery in Harrisville, Pa. did the job on the seat..This is just an unbelievable example of Honda motorcycle history as it was a breakthrough in technology and appearance! A little history on the this model; http://www.livablelandscape.org/CYCLES/350hist.htmMechanically: Even when cold, the engine starts consistently on the first bump of the starter or second or third kick and will sit there and idle all day long! This bike screams like a Wildcat with its nuts in a trap and absolutely flies. It redlines at 10,500 RPM, will do the ¼ mile in 14 seconds flat, and tops out at 100 mph. Bike only makes a half-revolution on the starter and sits there and purrs like a kitten. Idles perfect and throttle response is immediate. Riding down the road, there are no wobbles, shimmies or shakes, the clutch still has plenty of give, and she will keep up with the best 350 scramblers on the road today and will outperform all but a few. There are no leaks, the engine is quiet and smooth. The speedometer and Tach work as they should. All lights, blinkers, brake lights, horn, and everything else works as they should as well. The brakes are all good. The exhaust is as solid as they come and the steel behind the exhaust guard shines like new as well. I would rate the condition of this bike as “Good to Very good” and have set a reserve well below what NADA says the bike is worth in this condition. I have many photos of it but will be glad to take more if needed. Please ask any questions you like before bidding. You will be answered quickly and honestly. I will not sugarcoat anything for the sake of a few extra dollars and am not in the business to screw anyone. I have disclosed and will gladly provide photos of all known defects for your inspection. If the bike doesn’t sell this time around, I’ll sit on it ‘til spring and sell it for a lot more than the reserve. This is an AWESOME motorcycle and I will not be disappointed if she doesn’t sell! You are welcome and encouraged to personally inspect the bike and test drive it prior to bidding.
