Vehicle Detail
This auction features a 1976 Avanti. As you look at the pictures you can see this poor old car is pretty rough. It is however very complete, so why it might be questionable whether one would want to restore this car it definitely is an excellent parts car. Finish -- Finish is pretty rough, looks to have been repainted at least once and even that paint is in very poor condition. Body -- The fiberglass body is complete but there is some serious damage on the passenger fender (see photo) Frame -- Is straight and free of any serious rust, just some scale, no signs of any metal repair from collision. All body mounts are solid in intact. Bumpers - Bumpers are with the car, surface rust but good cores for re-chrome Bright work – The window trim and related trim is all there with the exception of the front headlight trim. It will need some clean up but is very useable….no pitting. Missing headlight trim. Glass Grade -- Excellent glass all away around (with exception of sunroof), rear window is very difficult to find, worth the opening bid for this auction. Power windows unchecked for operation, no battery. Interior – Very rough as seen in photos, but complete, many great parts. Blaukpuant Stereo. Full Stewart Warner gauges, many parts could be cleaned and restored. Wheels Grade – Nice 15 X 7 Magnum 500 Chrome rims. Very light surface rust. Nice original rims with caps! Tires Grade – Goodyear Arrivas….they hold air! Suspension Grade -- Complete suspension, operating condition unknown. Rear-end Grade – Complete stock rear-end, gear ratio and operating condition unknown, does roll with ease. Ignition Grade -- Stock appearing factory distributor with Chevrolet Corvette Chrome shielding. Air Conditioning/Heater Grade – Factory A/C car, all brackets are in place, no condenser, otherwise complete. Transmission -- GM 350 Turbo-Hydromatic Automatic operation unknown, all factory linkage is in place and functional. Brakes – Power front disc brakes with rear drum brakes, I have not mechanically inspected them, but appear complete. Engine – Engine appears to be factory original Chevrolet Small block 400 V-8. All factory brackets and linkage are in place, includes original Quadrajet carburetor. Operating condition is unknown. Missing factory radiator. All electrical harnesses are in place and intact. Summary: This car while in rough condition is very complete with all the hard to find parts in place. It could be restored, although I suppose this would be costly, more so then the car might be worth. That’s your call. But definitely a great parts car that would yield what you need for your restoration and generate income when you sell off the parts you don’t need. Low opening bid.
