RARE! 1955 BMW R69. Running and rideable. 8000 Miles on Odo. Old Blue metallic paint. From 2nd owner for 43 years, only rode 2,000 miles. This VERY RARE 1955 BMW R69 is running and rideable, and “Barn Fresh”. It has only 8000 Miles on the Odometer. The paint is not original and is rather rough. It was painted Blue Metallic decades ago by the first owner. We bought it from the 2nd owner, who owned the bike for 43 years, but only rode it about 2,000 miles. He last road the bike only 2 years ago. The bike starts and runs strongly, the clutch works very smoothly, the transmission shifts properly. The mufflers are significantly louder than stock; they are Swerengens, a common BMW modification from the original period of the bike. The hand controls have been upgraded to the newer /5 style perches, but the throttle innards are the original /2 type. The /5 controls are the type with threaded holes on top to mount the BMW 10mm mirrors. We re-torqued the head / cylinder studs, and adjusted the valves. We also changed the oil and driveline lube, cleaned and gapped the points, cleaned and gapped the plugs, set the timing, and cleaned and synchronized the carburetors. We also installed /5 type metal covered spark plug caps, as the original ones weren’t passing the spark. The original GERMA petcock is included, but we had to install a later type Karkoma because the Germa leaked badly. The headlight, taillight, and brake light all work, even without a battery. There is no key for the fuel tank glove box lid, and the steering neck lock has been removed. This bike would make a great rusty crusty daily rider (we left it dirty, just for you), or a very good basis for a restoration; you choose. We are posting an Mpeg video of a 1-kick start, and will also post a couple more of it being ridden up through the gears, and back down to first, then stopped and shifted to neutral.
