Vehicle Detail

1957 Chevy four door wagon. I purchased this car out of Colorado awhile ago and reluctantly it is time for it to go to a new home. When I bought it I was told the motor and transmission were gone over, new ball joints, brakes, brake lines, fuel lines and dual exhaust were put on. All of that work was done 20 plus years ago and the car sat unused in a garage. I had the radiator re-cored, cleaned out the gas tank added a new alternator and the car runs and drives. The brakes work and from what I can see everything stated to me seems to be factual. I did not open up the valve covers and have no way of knowing if the motor and transmission have been rebuilt. The motor is quiet and does not smoke. The clutch could use some adjustment. I have not driven the car for long distances as it needs some wiring diagnosis done. The door panels are original and it along with the back seat are in good shape. The bottom of the front seat needs recovered if that is the look you are going for. There is no headliner in the car but all of the bows are there. I put a new windshield in the car and all of the side glass came from a donor car. New window felts and weatherstripping have been added. The wipers don't work and the heater duct work is not with the car. The back shocks need installed. The body is rock solid and beside a few dings and bruises the only evidence of any bodywork is the passenger side rocker panel. The roof has it share of bumps but the drip rails are rust free. All doors are rust free, the tailgate and lift gate are rust free, the fenders and quarters are rust free. The floor pan is original and rust free. The trim is old and has it's share of personality as do the bumpers. The tires are good. I believe the drive train, 283 four barrel mated up to a column mounted 3 speed with overdrive, is original to the car. This is a four door wagon and not a Nomad, You can't tell the difference when you are behind the wheel. What you are buying is a blank canvas with great potential. Your biggest decision when you get it home would be to restore it to new, add a cool lace paint job to the roof and between the side trim for a great sixties vibe or do what I will do if reserve is not met, hand paint some old school lettering, drop it two inches and drive the wheels off of it. If you buy it and put your company name on the side of it you can use it for advertising. I have a clear title in my name with matching vin number but the car does not have a trim plate. Good luck and happy bidding. Make it yours at auction. Buyer is responsible for all transporting costs. I have re-listed the wagon with a lower reserve as another 1963 Buick Riviera has seemed to have magically appeared in my garage and somethings got to go.
