Vehicle Detail

This is a very rare 1979 Black on Black T Top trans am with a built 455 Oldsmobile engine that makes around 500HP and about the same Torque. This car has survivor paint that has a good shine but does have dings, rock chips, burn throughs, etc as any original 35 year old paint job would, it even has the factory decals on it. This car appears to be a well maintained, stored inside car that has been taken car of, no accidents that are visible, no panel replacement, no rust replacement, etc. I recommend having an inspection done or at least calling to discuss the purchase if you're serious, I will deal with overseas, but will be wire transfer only. My shop is Grubbs Motorsports in Garland, Tx and we build high end cars, we did not build this car but have tuned it and cleaned it up to a very nice driver level. Drivetrain:Built 455 Oldsmobile engine, balanced engine, Eagle H beam rods, forged pistons, moly rings, Edelbrock aluminum heads with Crane roller rocker arms, nice finned valve covers, hard hitting hydraulic Comp Cams camshaft and lifters, double roller timing set, large capacity oil pan, aluminum intake manifold with new Quick Fuel SS750AN carburetor, revvs like a racecar, hits hard, runs strong and starts every time, runs 180 degrees all the time with a new radiator. This engine will surprise you and should not be turned over to a novice driver or kid, it is fast and we build fast cars, I'd estimate it to run high 11 second quarter mile times on street tires. The trans was just professionally built with upgraded internals, shift kit and a freakshow converter that stalls perfectly to the cam and gear setup. Rearend gears are I'm guessing a 3.55 ratio, perfect for street or highway driving, they make a slight howl between 50-60mph, not bad but I want to be honest. Brakes are factory 4 wheel disc and work good, probably could use a vacuum pump to help out at idle with the big cam, but it will stop. Suspension is tight, does not rattle and steering is tight, has a brand new PSC pump on it that makes it easy to turn. The fuel system is a Holley blue pump with regulator and 1/2" aluminum fuel line from pump to carb. Body:Original survivor paint, looks better in the pics than in person, but is a nice 20 footer, minor door dings, rock chips, thin spots in the black, driver finish, not restored or repainted. Minor spot of rust in inner structure of right door, not sure how it got there because there is no rust anywhere else that I've seen. Original floor pans, no patches or rust holes. Solid underside.Interior:Mostly restored, new carpet, front seats recovered nicely, rear seat immaculate an original, headliner original, dash has on small crack 3" long, new stereo, package tray, console is nice, new steering wheel, floor mats, and every single gauge works, speedo is off a tick, but the clock even holds good time. Heat and AC is present under dash but does not work, no AC compressor and heater core leaks so it's bypassed, wipers work and all lights work. Horn works. Overall, I call this car a fun and nice driver that will sneak up on some people on the street with it's power, get tons of looks driving around town and is very reliable. It is not a restored car or a show car, but you can go have fun with it and get lots of attention.
