Vehicle Detail
The car was born in Los Angeles with time spent in Texas, garage kept after migration to Michigan. Features: Telescope Steering and Wood Wheel, Flaming River Quick Steering Box, 2K on new 205x14” tires mounted on “Hands Racing-like” wheels, 8K on new brakes. Some spares. Two Engines:In car and running a Yenko stinger stage III tribute: .030 over, two Weber 40 IDA 3 Barrel Carbs, Ported & Polished, Roller Rockers, headers, Pertronix ignition. Numbers-matching original 180 Turbo engine Included. Disassembled. All turbo parts including distributor. Includes cast alumimum Otto 2-piece, high capacity oil pickup and valve covers. Body condition - the only blemish is slight bubbling on the lower front fenders just in front of the rockers. (The previous owner had left leaves in the cowl vent wash area too long.), but otherwise there is nothing else. The car is unrestored but was repainted black with clear coat at some time before I got it. I bought the car in 2005 or 2006 and put about 1000 to 1200 miles per year. I have had a string of Corvairs since 1961 and both my sons have their own Corvairs as my father did before me. I say all that because the reason I bought the car was because I got a look underneath and had not seen a cleaner more rust free un-restored Corvair since I had bought them new. It is my Summer-only car that I have kept in a heated garage that I built specifically for it. Judging from the clean condition, the Los Angeles build + a Southern Ca AAA sticker in the engine compartment, I don't think it has ever "seen" snow. Buyer will be responsible for shipping/delivery.
