Vehicle Detail
This is a real BARN FIND! I bought this to restore ... but ran out of time. I does start and run, but the carbs need to be cleaned. fixed brakes, new battery, new battery leads, many other new parts. this is a 1982, so there are some chips, dents and nicks. Apparently, the original owner dropped it in a parking lot (see minor dent on fender) then never rode it again. I bought it from the estate. I've gone through most of the cycle, but it's really just sat in my garage last year...aside from the few times I fired her up in the driveway. It isn't 'ride-ready' but it's pretty close. GREAT for a starter cycle and at this price, it's probably worth it for the parts alone. clean NYS title. ThanksOn Apr-04-14 at 07:37:43 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE - CLARIFICATION TO LISTING BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE MAY NOT UNDERSTAND. This cycle needs its carbs done folks. I know I listed this in the auction, but apparently some potential buyers don't know what carbs do and how motorcycles are a bit different than cars....especially when the motorcycle in question has been stored in a garage since the early-mid 1980s! It didn't start yesterday when a potential buyer attempted to start it. Turns over fine and even sputters...but it didn't actually start. It needs finishing. That includes (but is not limited to) the carburetors. I suspect there are plenty of other minor issues too. I had a mechanic on it last year. He went through the engine, changed fluids, cleaned out the brake lines, new batteries, relays and other stuff and then got it started, but it didn't run well. He told me it needed it's carburetors 'done'. My better half didn't want to wait any longer, so we bought her a 2009 and this one sat ever since. The winning bidder will be pulling these carbs apart and cleaning them (or paying someone else to do this). Just spraying some carb cleaner into the openings will NOT get the job done. I actually cannot believe the guy was upset because spray carb cleaner didn't magically FIX the problem. Do people really think that a $4 can of spray-cleaner would fix carburetor problems on a motorcycle? What is the point of a mechanic then? This is a BARN FIND. I expect it to sell for $500 or less. It is NOT a fully-operational, road-ready...dealership-quality motorcycle. If it actually WAS...would it be $500 or less? with original miles? ummmm...NO. This hasn't been inspected or registered since 1984. It hasn't been on the road except back and forth on my block. Please keep this in mind when bidding. Thanks
