Vehicle Detail

***Attention Honda Collectors***This bike will be 50 years old in four short years!Incredible! This bike comes with a signed and open transferrable New York registration which will be honored as a title in any state in the United States. Check your local DMV for information on this and you will see. 1968: The year that changed history It was a year of seismic social and political change across the globe. From the burgeoning anti-Vietnam war and civil rights movements in the United States, the first year the planet Earth would be viewed from space, protests and revolutions all over the country, and man, what a year in music! The Doors, The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Goldsboro, Jimi Hendrix, Van Morrison, The Velvet Underground and others rocked the world to new highs, and lows. The world would never be the same again! Nor would the motorcycle world! The venerable Honda 750 (Four) was being produced in mass quantities prior to introduction to the world in late 1968. While that bike was in waiting, the CL350 was selling like water in the middle of a desert! And what a motorcycle it was, and still is!!! With a high revving, bullet-proof, two-cylinder, four-stroke engine, these bikes are practically indestructible and will run forever. This one is barely broken in! Historically: Up for auction is this 1968 CL350KO (1st year) with 42 miles since the engine rebuild. The previous owner had the engine torn apart and rebuilt. He advised me that he replaced the original speedo with an OEM replacement showing the correct miles on the engne only. Cosmetically: The inside of the fuel tank is just as clean as the outside with no fuel leaks, no signs of tank repair, no dents, no scratches anywhere, and no signs of ever being laid over. The original paint on the gas tank, headlight bucket, side covers, and fork ears is excellent, especially for a bike that is 46 years old! This bike is ALL original to my knowledge except for the items previously mentioned and appears to have never been abused. I will gladly have the original seat professionally re-foamed for you if you wish. This is just an unbelievable example of Honda motorcycle history as it was a breakthrough in technology and appearance! A little history on the this model; http://www.livablelandscape.org/CYCLES/350hist.htm Mechanically: Even when cold, the engine starts consistently on the first bump of the starter or second or third kick and will sit there and idle all day long! This bike screams like a Wildcat with its nuts in a trap and absolutely flies. It redlines at 10,500 RPM, will do the ¼ mile in 14 seconds flat, and tops out at 100 mph. I haven’t figured out why, but, at times after riding for a distance, it tends to idle too high, so, I presume the carbs could use a good overhaul. Riding down the road, there are no wobbles, shimmies or shakes, the clutch still has plenty of give, and she will keep up with the best 350 scramblers on the road today and will outperform all but a few. The speedometer and Tach work as they should. All lights, blinkers, brake lights, horn, and everything else works as it should as well. The brakes are all good. The exhaust is as solid as they come although there is a small amount of surface rust on the bike side of the pipes. A detailed cleaning job, a little re-chroming, and this old bike would look like a new one. I would rate the condition of this bike as “Good to Very good” and have set a reserve well below what NADA says the bike is worth in this condition. Click the link below to see the NADA value on this bike! http://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycles/1968/Honda/CL350KO-SCRAMBLER-350/Values The title has an additional number in the sequence “E” as opposed to the frame. Honda stamped all of the 350 frames without the “E” designation and only placed that on the title to signify that it has electric start, as some Honda models were kick start only. Feel free to call me with any questions and you are also welcome to come and see the bike by appointment here in Mercer, Pa. My number is 724-866-2571. I guarantee a clear Pennsylvania title for the bike as soon as it comes back from the state, I sent out for it on 03/21/2012, and have the pink slip to prove it. In the meantime, I will provide the winner a Pennsylvania notarized “Bill of Sale” and will forward the title to the next owner as soon as I get it in my hand. All shipping cost are the responsibility of the buyer! I will accept paypal only under certain conditions! The winning bidder must contact me immediately to set up payment arrangements. Once full payment is received, I will release the bike to the shipper. I highly recommend going through USHIP.com as they are fast, inexpensive, and easy to deal with. I am not desperate to sell, am not a dealer, I don't do this for a living, I'm an enthusiast. If you'd like any detailed photos of a specific area of the bike, just ask! I have many photos of it but will be glad to take more if needed. Please ask any questions you like before bidding. You will be answered quickly and honestly. I will not sugarcoat anything for the sake of a few extra dollars and am not in the business to screw anyone. With all the bikes I own or have owned over the years, I know how disappointing it is when someone over-sells a bikes condition so you may be sure I won't do that to you. I have disclosed and will gladly provide photos of all known defects for your inspection. If the bike doesn’t sell this time around, I’ll sit on it ‘til spring and sell it for a lot more than the reserve. This is an AWESOME motorcycle and I will not be disappointed if she doesn’t sell! You are welcome and encouraged to personally inspect the bike and test drive it prior to bidding. Although this bike is sold "As Is" and "Without Warranty", I want you to be happy and I will do anything within reason to me to see that you are. Thank you and good luck! If you have any questions, please ask them now before you bid or buy! Again, my number is 724-866-2571. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time in order to sell this item locally as well. However, once reserve has been met, the bike will go to the highest bidder here on ebay! Good Luck! On Mar-27-14 at 13:48:53 PDT, seller added the following information: ***Carburetor issue has been resolved, just needed cleaned.*** On Mar-28-14 at 12:59:32 PDT, seller added the following information: Just installed a brand new battery, bike only makes a half-revolution and sits there and purrs like a kitten. Idles perfect now and throttle response is immediate. Just an incredible old machine I'm a good mind to just keep if it don't meet reserve. I know four years from now it will be worth a small fortune.
