1997 Honda TRX300FW

FOR SALE A late 90s (I believe 1997 but could be one or two years older or newer) Honda TRX300Fw Fourtrax ATV. This four wheeler has a strong running 300 cc four stroke motor, and strong transmission that shifts well through all five forward gears as well as into reverse. All four tires hold air fine. If you know anything about the Fourtraxs than you know they're bullet proof quads mechanically. This one is for the most part, but came from a rough home before I rescued it. As you can see from the pictures it needs some work: First off the plastic has been repainted by the previous owner and although ATV plastics can be repainted if all the steps are followed correctly, the previous owner didn't do a very good job. It matches that desert tan Honda color that was popular in the 90s (fuel tank appears to be original) but is what I call a 20/20 paint job. Looks good from 20' away or cruising by at 20 mph. Plastic cover for the kick starter is missing and there are cracks and zip tie stitches in the plastics. Secondly the brakes. Rear brakes Lines are froze up and were backed all the way off so they wouldn't cause any problems locking up. Everything is still there and brand new set of rear brake pads are included with this quad! Thirdly, the starter has began acting up and occasionally when the electric start button is pressed all I hear is a click in and around the starter area. If I use the kick starter one kick, I can go back to the electric start button and the starter will turn and turn over/start the motor just fine. Fourthly, handle bars are slightly bent down on right hand side and it drives me crazy! I have a nice used black handle bar included with quad to replace the bent original handle bars. Fithly, the trx300FW is suppose to be 4x4, however this one is currently 4x2. The previous owner decided it was best to take the left and right CV axles off once the they got worn out and not replace them with new ones ($195 on eBay). The forward shaft coming from transfer case turns as it should, but there are no CV axles connecting it to the left and right front hub. I picked this quad up knowing it had a lot of little issues that needed addressed and planned to ride and fix as I had time. But time is a hard thing to come by and my family wants to fund a crew cab Mule or Ranger instead of a quad, so my loss is your gain. This Fourtrax can be taken out to the woods or field and ridden just how it sets. Or put it in the garage and do a nice restoration. Or great starter quad. Please asking any questions you may have.
