Vehicle Detail
A Rare Opportunity For A Factory Original 1971 European Spec. Triumph “Survivor".This European spec. 1971 Triumph Tiger 650 TR6R defines the term survivor. It must surely be one of the most original and lowest mileage 1971 Triumph motorcycles in the world. This bike is absolutely as it was when it left the factory - there may still be some English air in the tires! This Tiger has been in my family's collection since 1990 and has always been stored in a climate controlled environment. Before our taking possession, it was part of a largeprivate museum/ collection pieced out after its owner’s passing. It has only seen two owners since new. The mileage is unquestionably an actual 555 KM; with 502 KM of those put on by me. Last year the bike was inspected by a skilled Triumph mechanic and a fresh battery was installed. The fuel lines/petcocks and engine fluids were also replaced. During this inspection, it was noticed that the tachometer was not performing as it should. A modern reproduction replacement gauge was installed at this time. The original tachometer gauge is included in this auction, so the Tiger’s new owner may have it repaired and reinstalled. Additionally, during this inspection/servicing, the factory original spark plugs were misplaced. Modern replacements have been installed. This Triumph starts easily, idles smoothly, brakes and shifts as a bike with 555 KM should. The fuel tank is rust free, and the original paint and brightwork look amazing. To make this as clear as possible: Outside of the aforementioned items, this bike has never been altered! Everything else is 100% original to when it left the factory in the mid 1970’s… My memory is foggy on all the details, but I recall the bike’s history as it being left unsold and held in limbo at the NVT factory until and during the worker’s strike. When the MMCo was created 1974/5, the factory’s remaining NOS inventory was slowly sold off in lots. This is how this Triumph and several others came in to the possession of its previous owner. I no longer have enough space in a climate controlled environment to store this Tiger, so it’s time for her to move on. I am hoping to find a new owner for her who can appreciate her unmolested state. If your plan is to tear apart this wonderful survivor to create a custom, please don’t tell me Bike is located in Daytona Beach, Florida and is available for viewing by appointment.
