The Impala was introduced in 1958 as the top option level for Bel Air coupes and convertibles. The "whole new look" '58 was Bill Mitchell's pinnacle vehicle in the Chevrolet lineup. Mitchell, then heir-apparent to famed designer Harley Earl, sought to introduce "curves where before there were lines", and achieved this in dramatic fashion. This is the very first Impala and rarest of all with unparalleled styling. The Impala convertible was the most expensive Chevrolet available in 1958. This is an extensive ground up restoration with plenty of chromed parts for that brand new look. It is finished in Pacific Blue with a matching blue convertible top with original correct blue, silver and black interior. It features a powered up 383 small block engine producing around 525hp with less than 600 miles on board. The turbo glide transmission has a shift kit, the chromed Ford 9" axle has a posi-traction with a reinforced blue powder coated frame to take all the power the engine unleashes. There is an optima battery for quick dependable starts. It runs and drives like new. Needs window troubleshooting. It does not have a horn installed and the right signal canceler does not work. It does not have hydraulics or air bags.Other options include, power steering, power brakes, power windows, dual antennas, Continental Kit with a three piece bumper, custom digital dash and much more. This car always turns heads on the streets and has best of show trophies.
