Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice matching numbers example of a very desirable Triumph, after many years of wrangling I purchased this from a friend that bought it from the original owner, it was mostly complete but had been off the road for 30+ years, it was stored in a dry garage and was pretty solid with varying degrees of surface rust and light pitting in areas (the handlebars are the worst, the headlight bucket has some light pitting and the wheels are pretty good but there is some), The body work was rattle can painted 3 times deep so I stripped it and painted it, I was fortunate that the oil tank cleaned up pretty easily and the inside had perfect color that I was able to scan, the paint is very nice but not dead nuts show paint, the frame paint is original with some touching up, I did paint the fork legs, headlight ears, triples, pegs and fender stays, I was able to use either original or NOS hardware for 95% (I recently acquired the inventory of a former Triumph dealer), somewhere along the way the carbs, side covers and air cleaner disappeared, I sourced replacements and changed all the carb gaskets and so forth, I changed all the oils, cleaned and set the points and after a handful of tries she fired right up, in order to actually use this I would do a full service (adjust valves, sync carbs brakes, etc.), it will need tires also, the stock exhaust is pretty good with a few scrapes from a low side on the right and a small area of lifted chrome and a small hole on the left (the way the pipes are constructed they don't leak), there are replacements available but these are nice enough that for the same money (or less) I think they could be restored (thats what it would take to be perfect but they are extremely presentable as they sit), this also comes with a sweet set of period Konis, I am missing one reflector but they are available for anywhere from $20- $50. the only other problems are a small ding in the lower right side of the tank (don't ask), and the tach glass got cracked (I will supply a vendor that replaces the glass and bezel very reasonably), the chain guard is missing as is the tool kit/box, I have what I believe to be the original keys and the steering lock does work, this is being sold with a Bill of Sale only along with the original registration as pictured (E Bay only leaves you limited options), due to the year that will work in most states (if it is a major problem I have the ability to get a transferrable registration for a couple of hundred dollars as that's what it will cost to register), shipping as always is the responsibility of the buyer but we are very experienced with transporters, this motorcycle represents a significant investment of both time and money so please ask all your questions up front and only bid if your serious
