Exterior: This vehicle has had at least one re-paint. Overall the paint still retains a high gloss and looks good from a distance and, in fact, was on display at the AACA Museum as recently as the fall of 2013. Closer inspection does reveal some scratches and other blemishes which likely could be corrected by a professional detailing. The one problematic area with the paint is the top of the left front fender which is blemished likely would need to be repainted if the car was to be shown in competition. Overall the chrome trim and bumpers are in good condition, free of dents and still shiny. The exceptions are the rear bumper, chrome trim at the top of the fins, and the door handles – all of which show varying degrees of pitting. Other than a small dent at the bottom of the left rear door, the body is in excellent condition with no evidence of rust other than some surface rust on the underside of the doors (see pictures). The wheels covers look as if they were just installed—likely part of the restoration. Interior: As can be seen from the pictures, the black and white leather interior is in very good condition with both the seats and door panels clean and free of any rips or tears. The carpeting is also very presentable with the exception of the driver’s side near the kick panel where it is frayed and pulling loose. All window glass is good with no cracks or delamination. The rear view mirror, however, is loose and cloudy Trunk: The trunk floor and lid are in good condition; the trunk lining, floor covering and spare tire cover are dirty and worn—and would need to be replaced if the car is to be shown. Tires: The car is equipped with four (4) P235/75R14 WSW tires with very good tread-- appearing as almost new. Engine, Transmission, Brakes, & Suspension: The car starts easily, runs and stops without issue—but the brakes do feel a bit “spongy” an indication that the system might need to be bleed. The transmission shifts smoothly between gears. Upon inspection it was noted, however, that there are several areas to which a new owner will likely want addressed. The first is that the water pump pulley is wobbling -- which could indicate that the water pump may fail in the future and therefore need to be replaced. Other areas noted are that the steering gearbox (not the power steering pump) seal is leaking, there is a minor exhaust leak on the left side of the manifold, and there is a minor leak around the rear axle pinion seal. Chassis and Undercarriage: Upon inspection of the underside of the car it is evident that its earlier restoration was accomplished to a very thorough level. As can be seen from the photos the chassis and undercarriage is solid, clean and rust fee --as are the rockers, inner body panels, exhaust and suspension components. Accessories, Controls, and Power Options: This Lincoln is equipped with a number of power and electrical assists and other options that include power steering, brakes, windows, and front seats, along with a radio and power antenna.. There are some operational issues with some of the gauges and accessories. These include a noisy power front seat, an inoperable windshield washer (hose is disconnected and too short), windshield wipers that do not return to their “park” position, an inoperable radio, a power antenna that is slow and noisy, a non-working clock, non-working ammeter, two of the four dash warning lights do not illuminate, and the cigarette lighter in the rear passenger compartment on the right does not work--while the one on the left side is missing. The power windows also present some problems with a non-operational front passenger side window, and rear windows that operate but need manual assistance to raise or lower. Ownership and History: Not much is known about this vehicle prior to its donation to the Museum in 2010. There was virtually no documentation submitted when donated, except for an appraisal, nor did the owner provide any historical information. A physical inspection of the vehicle does support the claim that the car was restored as some point in the past. Additional Details Regarding the Sale of This Vehicle: This vehicle is offered as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Since it has been part of a collection and run infrequently over the past three years, the buyer is advised that it may require some degree of re-commissioning before placing it into routine service. While we believe we have accurately described the vehicle in the narrative and the accompanying pictures, interested parties are encouraged to ask questions and/or schedule a personal inspection. This can be accomplished by calling the Museum at 717-566-7100 any time between 9 AM and 5 PM Monday-Friday. The Museum is located in Hershey, PA. This car has a valid State of Pennsylvania title which will be transferred to the new owner upon successful completion of the transaction. Shipping and transportation are the responsibility of the new owner. We will gladly work with you or the shipper/transporter of your choice to coordinate the move. The new owner will have two weeks from the completion of the auction to pick up the vehicle unless other arrangements are made in advance. If the car is not picked up within this time frame (and other satisfactory arrangements are not made), then we reserve the right to charge a storage fee for the vehicle based on the local going rate.
