Up for sale is my friend's 2001 Honda Odyssey EX Minivan. The transmission stopped working about 3 months ago and he debated on whether or not to replace it or buy a new vehicle. He bought a new Ford Explorer and the dealer would not take his minivan in trade because the transmission was inoperable. This minivan was purchased new in 2001 by him and his now ex-wife and was then re-titled in his name alone in 2008 as part of the divorce settlement when he got custody of the kids. It is technically still a one owner vehicle. The title is free and clear with no liens or brands. After sitting for 3 months the battery was dead so I am charging it now to get the exact mileage but it is less than 140K. This vehicle was religiously maintained and just recently had new brakes done. I have the receipts for almost all service and maintenance work performed over the last 12 years (mostly at the Honda Dealer). The engine runs fine but needless to say the body and interior have seen the abuse of soccer games, mall parking lots, and 3 (now teenage) kids putting it to the test of time. A thorough cleaning and detail would make it look close to new inside and a new front bumper cover, tail light marker lens and some minor dent and paint work would make it look new outside as well. As many people know, the major (and only) point of failure on these vans is the transmission and after nearly 140K, this one has had it. You will need to tow the van home or to your mechanic and get it repaired. A used or rebuilt transmission can run you as little as a couple hundred dollars on eBay. In good running condition with this mileage, these vans bring $5K or more. We are selling this one at a low Buy it now or Best offer price slightly higher than what the junk yard offered. If there are no offers, we will sell it to the junkyard where someone will strip it for parts but I really think this is an easily and cheaply restorable nice family van. The engine probably has more than double the mileage left in its life. I've seen these things with 300K miles or more still on the road. Please be aware and not surprised if your best offer price is accepted but don't come here wanting to negotiate after you purchased the vehicle. It is being sold as is where is and I have done my best to describe all defects in the condition description section. His ex-wife did have a fender bender or two with the minivan as seen in the pictures. There are no warranties expressed or implied and a $100 non-refundable deposit is due with buy it now or at auction close to cover eBay listing fees should you decide to change your mind about purchasing the vehicle.
