VIDEO BELOW 1978 Anniversary Corvette - A true Classic Up for auction is this classic 1978 Anniversary Edition Corvette. Although in need of some cosmetic work this vehicle is actually in fairly good condition, runs and drives very well, and would require very little to be a nice reliable cruiser! If you are seriously interested in placing a bid on this vehicle I would encourage you to read this ad in its entirety as well as watching the video I provided for you below. I have tried to provide you with as much information as possible to assist you in making an educated bid, however please remember this is a 35 year old vehicle that was recently pulled from storage after a 20 year hibernation. As I mentioned above this vehicle is in fairly decent condition. Before I get into the condition I would like to provide you with a little background. Back this past spring 2013, this vehicle was pulled from a barn in Upstate New York by a family member of what I was told is the original owner. The vehicle had been in storage for quite sometime, we estimate almost 20 years. I was the first person to tinker with the vehicle since it was put in storage. The paint on the vehicle deteriorated, the tires were flat, and the brake lines had leaked out, and the car was covered in dust, but underneath all that was a very solid, good running, nice driving car. Getting the vehicle back on the road was very simple. The oil was changed with Valvoline VR1 twice and a new filter was installed. The carburetor was cleaned, new fuel was added, and a new battery (with 5 year warranty) was installed. The engine was primed, oil pressure was checked, and the key was turned. I wish I had video of the first time it ran, it was pretty impressive. The car started like it had just run yesterday. Since then I did some basic maintenance to get it road worthy. Brakes, being very important to me, were replaced with all new parts. The brake lines had leaked out over time and although the front ones were in good shape I decided to replace all of them. Every line in the car was replaced with NiCopp lines (nickle/copper); brake fluid was flushed, all four corners received new pads, and new brake calipers. The accessory belt was dry and cracked so it was replaced. The tires were replaced with a set I had from another muscle car, BFGoodrich Radial T/A's in almost brand new condition. And the vehicle was taken to a New York State inspection station where it passed without an issue. Since then it has been my local weekend cruiser. Unfortunately I have a too many expenses and too many other projects so I had to make the tough decision to put it up for sale. As for the condition, its surprisingly better then it looks. Car is very solid for a New York car. This one was stored in a somewhat dry environment for quite sometime so the undercarriage is pretty clean. It has a light patina of course from sitting but it doesn't have any rot at all. The drivers door does have one crack however the rest of the body is intact. Unfortunately if paint is important to you, the car could use a repaint. The paint is faded everywhere and flaking off on the front and rear bumpers. The good however is that that front and rear bumper are intact as well. One nice thing about this car is that it is complete. There is a plastic cover under the dash on the drivers side that is missing and other than that its pretty much all there from what I can tell. Although complete the interior could use a little refurbishing. The carpets are sun faded and need to be redyed, the seats could use new seat covers, and radio does not work, on the up side, the heat does blow HOT, and all the gauges except the clock are working! The dash and t-tops are in good condition, no issues there. The engine runs very well! But will obviously need a tune up as it sports the original plugs, wires and so on. The stock 5.7L 350 although not a power house is very reliable and smooth running. Transmission is a 3 speed automatic TH-350 and it shifts nice and firm as it should. Car rides nice on the road, I encourage you to watch the test drive video below if you are interested in bidding! One of the things on my to do list was to replace all the bushings in the vehicle. Bushings are rubber and dry out over time. These are brittle and although the car drives nice I can see it would definitely benefit from new ones. Headlights still pop up. 1978 was the first year for the fastback rear window and the second year for the cockpit style interior. 1979 was the last year a C3 had a 140 MPH speedometer. 1978 was also the 25th anniversary of the Corvette and this one is badged to show that. In a nut shell: Its a good running nice driving car that could use some maintenance and cosmetic work. Its a car that you can jump in and enjoy today, and work on in your spare time. If you have any questions please read the auction first, then watch the video, and then contact me :) Good Luck Bidding!! A $250 non-refundable deposit is required at the close of auction. The balance is due within 5 days of the auction ending and the vehicle must be picked up within 2 weeks. The high bidder is ultimately responsible for all costs and arrangments for shipping or pickup, however I will do my best to assist the high bidder if necessary. Acceptable forms of payment are Cash at pickup, or Certified Bank Check. Remember ebay is a binding contact. Good luck bidding!
